$300 is for standard Freight. However, they can ship 1 unit via normal fedex/ups if you contact them direct.
@Patrick have you seen such a system before? This looks like it could be the next Supermicro craze as they have over 500 units.
Each node has dual Intel C612 chipset (E5 V3/V4 CPUs and DDR4 ECC).
Oddly, the spec sheet says its noise level is 38dB. That's... Really really quiet!?
There doesn't seem to be much "gray market" usage info about this. There was a STH thread started asking for more info, but crickets.
I really would want to get my hands on one to document what options and specs it has. Like, are those FC, QSPF+, or even 100 Gbps ports on the back?
Anyone want to sponsor a build with this chassis (that I can mail off once it's built)?
Trying to find an excuse to buy one (or 3), as I have a couple of SC846 chassis's already. But, they have to support ZFS first and foremost and dropping $1000 on a new server build, "just to see", isn't enough.
However, it could very well be my replacement for several SC846 chassis I do have hosting my media and backups as I rarely use their expansion slots for anything - because I do not want to disturb the media! Moving all media to this, and moving my backups to a 1U 12 disk machine. It's a thought, but not worth the gamble of $1200 or so to build and see.
