I keep coming across these for sale in Canada, but the forums are pretty silent about how they stack up. Even most reviews default to the 1000E version. What are peoples' thoughts?

IIRC the 1000E is the 'write' endurance version and the non-E is not, is that correct? Do you have a link / model # to verify?

I've had great luck with Sandisk Enterprise drives write and read and mix workload drives. SOme of the best value capacity drives are the Sandisk Ascend 960GB. I have a couple of the write endurance models and they work great too.

I don't think you can go wrong with this gen or last gen Sandisk Enterprise SSD... heck even their high end consumer SSD are awesome!
