If you are close to large metro area, 42U racks show up quite regularly at this price. Just need to setup alerts for craigslist. That's why I did not think this belongs in the deals section. If they were 24U, lot of home labbers would be all over them. They don't come on market that frequent. I was able to grab a 24u full depth rack in a pristine condition for $150 during the last Oil industry bust in early 2016.
CL alerts is the way to go. Couple of months ago, I picked up a pristine 846 with 2 x SQ power supplies for $100 basically making the chassis free.
