FS: 3Ware Sidecar Raid card and chassis
Its a bit long in the tooth, but up until yesterday it was still running strong in one of my systems...
$300 obo. (the chassis alone might be worth this...).
Includes UPS Ground to continental USA (AK/HI/International negotiable)
Paypal non-CC only.
3Ware Sidecar kit, includes:
The chassis is rock solid. I modded it with a quieter fan. Its reasonably quiet. Officially supports SATA-II drives up to 2TB. The interconnect is 8088 (mini-SAS 4-lane external cable) so it is likely that with a different controller the chassis might support larger drives, advanced format, SATA-III & SAS too, but that would be unofficial and YMMV.
The Raid is by no means rocket fast, but it is adequate. With 4x7200.11 1.5TB in Raid5 I got >300MB/s reads, >240MB/s writes. Last drivers on LSI web site dates May 2010 with support for Windows XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003, 2008 & 2008R2, VMWare 4.0, Solaris 10, Linux, OS-X Leopard and Snow-Leopard and some more esoteric things.
Will guarantee non-DOA + 30 days from receipt.
Picture coming unless somebody offers right away...
