It is unfortunate that Dell has tightened things down that much for the sake of product differentiation. It looks like I will have to decide whether m.2 boot is more important or system manageability.

Boot from M.2 in PCIe x4 slot via adapter and keep Intel AMT

Only the PCIe x16 slot is direct to CPU ... other slots including (the in-demand 20 year old) PCI slot is PCH.
Wonder what that does, if anything, to real world use/performance.

Another odd thing (to me anyhow) ... the T40 supports VROC .... so does this mean bifurcation support in BIOS on the x16 slot?

I am not feeling so bad I keep missing this deal ... it is an omen .... sticking with the T30.
