Can you explain why this one is so special? For roughly the same price (about $20 more shipped to DE) you can get a DL380 G6 with 16 drive bays (and trays), two 128GB SSD drives, 512MB of battery-backed cache on the controller and two better processors (though still Xeon 5500 series):

HP ProLiant DL380 G6 2 x 2.40Ghz L5530 Quad Core 72GB 2x 128GB SSD Rails

Not a bad find, but I don't see where it's a great deal. I'm not very familiar with Poweredges though, so maybe I'm just missing something...


EDIT: Nevermind, the RAM is different. My search picked up on the 128GB hard drives, not the RAM!

The versioning of the boards actually has to do with the TDP of the processors and not the generational support. Gen 1 boards will take any cpu up to 95W TDP and Gen 2 boards go up to 130W.

I had a mix of gen 1 and 2 R610s with X5650 procs in them.
