Also worth noting you can't mix RDIMM, LRDIMM, or TSV RDIMMs in any platform that I am aware of.
Which is why i am going with 32gb rdimm for now. I have 8x 16gb rdimm already and my z10ped16ws board can take another 8 dimm so best for me to stick with regular 32gb rdimm for now.

I figured that so I am going to upgrade all my memory modules :)

I will sell the memory that came with the server as each stick seems to be going for $250ish on ebay.

I’ve had really high failure rates so far on the 2933 32GB sticks.
No RMA other than buying new ones and “returning” the old ones.
1 stick started throwing errors within a few hours. 2nd one failed over putting the units in the DC with cooler air.

who knows if more will fail after actual stress.
I've had similar experience on 64gb 2933 from this seller with a H11dsi (r2) board. For some reason I don't get any ecc errors that would help me locate the faulty ram, but after a couple days of sustained load I start seeing process crashes and memtest throws errors after running for a long time. It's a real PITA to bisect 16 pieces of ram with memtest taking a couple hours to find errors for each bisection step. After the first RMA cycle when I again had issues I reduced the speed to 2666 and haven't had errors since.

What I paid wouldn't have been a bad price for 2666, so I don't mind too much.

Which ones do you have?

So these TSV ones have been failing for you then? I guess I will avoid them as I will be rolling out to production servers.
Yep. Zero problems at 2666MHz, however. It might well be that the H11Dsi is too picky, but I found that I was able to identify specific problematic dimms and they continued whatever socket they were in.

I'm really disappointed that I wasn't getting any ECC errors, reduces my confidence in epyc as a reliable server platform.

Well I would be using them with EPYC 7402P or Possibly future Threadripper servers.

How do you know it's the platform, and not the dodgy memory?
I don't but if it's the dodgy memory then it's still the platform's "fault". Memory fails, and apparently if it fails in a particular way I'll get absolutely zero diagnostics about it just silent crashes. :( Might some intel system do the same thing? Absolutely, but I haven't personally experienced that for a long time. And I have many tb's more of weird ebay ram in intel systems than in epyc.

Yeah. I had to return about 4 dimms. Mine threw ECC errors in a Xeon scalable system. Running them at 2666, 1 would fail, and 3 would be okay.

The replacement dimms are working fine though :)

So, is this deal the OP mentioned still a good price these days?
8x32GB DDR4-2666Mhz RDIMM - $622

I am not up to speed on DDR4 costs, and have been spoilt sniping 32GB DDR3 modules for ~$25 :D

Has anyone tried these in an OEM workstation? Like an HP T440 or similar? My Jingsha X99 motherboard just blew up. Looking to find my E5-2678 V3 a new home.
