IMO this is an even better deal than the i3 version, cpu alone is over $200, the way I look at it after parts the motherboard is free :)

https://www.cdw.com/shop/products/L...n-E3-1225V3-3.2-GHz-Monitor-none/3131451.aspx

Taxed & shipped was $333 for me.

These are the two priced-to-sell TS140 variants around the net right now, i3 has been floating a little under $250 lately:
Code:
Model	Processor	Hard Drive Bay	Hard Drive Type	Hard Drive Included	Memory Included	Memory Slots Total/Avail	Pre-Loaded OS	RAID Configured	Power	Management	Warranty
70A4000HUX 1 x Intel® i3-4130 processor 3.4 GHz, 2C, 4M Cache, 1.00 GT/s, 65W 3 3.5" DC none 4 GB (1 x 4 GB PC3-12800E 1600MHz DDR3 ECC-UDIMM) 4/3 none 0,1,5 280W Fixed Intel® AMT 9.0 1 year
70A4001LUX 1 x Intel® E3-1225v3 processor 3.2 GHz, 4C, 8M Cache, 4.00 GT/s, 84W 4 3.5" DC none 4 GB (1 x 4 GB PC3-12800E 1600MHz DDR3 ECC-UDIMM) 4/3 none 0,1,5,10 280W Fixed Intel® AMT 9.0 1 year
I think i3 does not do full AMT (aka vPro) just power on etc.

More specs/pictures etc here: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/servers/thinkserver/towers/ts140/#techspecs

I think this might turn out to be a pricing scam/bait-n-switch or something like that, they are still refusing to ship my order for bullshit reasons* even though the credit card accepted the charge and after I gave them the phone # to the bank to verify the billing+shipping address is legitimate.
(*so called reasons are phone number area code mismatch to billing zip code, who the **** doesn't keep their number when moving if they have a cell phone? Also ip address location, which is ****ing meaningless if you are on a large corporate network with proxies)

I practically live on this amex card (mmm points) and have never had any problems with it.

Waiting to see if anyone else online actually gets one delivered at this price.

Fedex delivered them today. I was only able to quickly open one of the boxes and take a look at the system. It seems pretty nice.

I used a HP (Intel) dual gigabit network in my TS140, no problem. Have not tried other cards yet. Once I have my second TS140, may want to add some 10G network card to network both TS140 together.
Regarding Intel AMT vs Supermicro IPMI.
Intel AMT share the same network port on the motherboard.
Within Intel AMT web interface, I could not find BIOS setting to read or change.
Intel AMT use vPRO for remote KVM, a bit of confusion to setup (I am new at vpro), works ok over VPN in a jam, I run Hyper-v so I don't use vpro console often.

Lenono locks down their laptops from adding non-oem wireless cards, never heard of any problems with server expansion slots. People might be confusing old cards expecting a legacy BIOS having compatibility problems with some UEFI firmware, but that would not be an intentional lenono created problem.

I know one of the work guys has extra nics in it and another plans to put an LSI SAS card, will post if I hear any problems.

70A4000HUX is the only one left in stock. I get these for 50% off so man that is a good deal :)

Pissed me off I spent so much on an E1225v3 motherboard and power supply I could have just bought this server complete cheaper than the mobo!

Has anyone tried installing VMware ESXi on these systems? Haven't had a chance to look at the raid, is it just software raid/not recognized by VMware?

Does it come with DVD, or is it just an empty slot like the HP Microserver G8?

I thought last time I did it I just used the newest igb drivers. That post on Ivo Beerens' guide links eventually to igb version 4.2.16.3. The newest one (in the official VMware page in the STH post) is the newer igb version 4.2.16.8

VMware Compatibility Guide: I/O Device Search

Both should work IIRC although both versions are on that VMware page.

This server is at $399 at amazon, so while higher still a solid deal for a Xeon Server.

For the record, TS140 E3-1225 v3 2x8gb memory , running Windows 2012R2 (no vm running), 2 hard drives, 1 ssd , 1 dual Intel network card, idling at 27-29 watt.
