I have a Dell Perc H700 with a sff8087 to sff8088 adaptor in my server. It is hooked to 2 Lenovo SA120's and has been working great after some minor config changes with MegaCLI.
I just got a 3rd SA120 and no matter how I hook it up (in daisy chain) I get a SAS cable topology error on boot the system halts.
I have disabled stop on errors for the H700 with MegaSCU and it still halts and wants me to reboot and change the cable. I have also set the max chained enclosures to 6 from the default of 1
If i wait until after the SAS adapter passes POST then plug in the SAS cable the OS sees the unit just fine and drives work fine as well. EVERYTHING is visible in the MSM and on MegaCLI.
What has dell done to neuter this card and not allow multiple SAS enclosures chained together?
