Anyone have the part number of the plug that goes into the 8pin 12v connector? Or is it a standard 8pin connector off a regular PSU and I can cannibalize something around the shop?
It's a standard 8-pin EPS12V connector (more common on server boards/PSUs). A standard 4-pin P4 12V connector will also fit on one half of it, and is probably sufficient unless the wires on it are like 22AWG or something (I powered my board like this temporarily while troubleshooting last night and it seemed fine. YMMV.)

I thought it was a minifit jr, just wasn't sure of the keying. 0039012080 looks like the model number. Thanks!

I got one for $50. Going to try and make a backup NAS with some spare ECC ram. Does anyone know which oculink to sata cable is supported? Finding mixed results via google, some say its proprietary
I'm curious too. It looks like a SFF-8612 from the original spec, but that doesn't mean its wired that way. I'll see in a few days when mine arrives, and will report back if someone else hasn't already.

I went all low power & solid state storage back when prices were low, but need a bit more space now. Rather than crank up one of the higher powered & mechanical drive sytems that's still in the rack, or sell a kidney to buy more SSDs, I thought I'd try one of these boards with a handful of RAM and 960gb/1TB SSDs I already had in the spare parts bin (closet actually :eek:)

OTOH, I'm pretty sure this is my first "Great Deals" thread purchase in a long time that @Fritz hadn't already gotten first...so maybe it will be cursed or something :p

I'll test with a Supermicro CBL-SAST-0933 cable once the board gets here.

I found a page discussing Oculink compatability issues with another ASRock board (X570D4I-2T). The author mentioned that a Supermicro cable worked, while a "standard" non-branded cable did not. Their use case was passthrough for PCIe x4 though, not SATA. It may be a lot of wishful thinking, but I hope that Supermicro Oculink compatability carries over to other ASRock products and configurations Modified OCuLink Cable

some supermicro have redriver, they have to switched mode (by cable pin).
Oh, I didn't think of that. The cable I have is apparently passive. Maybe SMC didn't think it needed a redriver, since SATA is so much slower? I originally got the cable to use on an X11SRH-VF, but the board died before I could try it.

...I noticed that, before the BIOS update, the BIOS was showing some specialized info - it had "t3.small.x86" listed, plus identified the board as "EPYC3000D4I", and didn't have a "Server Mgmt" tab. After updating, it looks more stock:
Did you happen to notice if there were any fields/settings present in the original BIOS that were missing fonce you'f flashed the stock BIOS from ASRock? I like the idea of having Server Management controls, but don't want to eliminate something that would have been useful (things like enabling bifurcation, or the Oculink port, or etc. for example)

I think the bios that OP used is actually from a board with more features, so I wouldn't expect core platform functionality like bifurcation or oculink features would end up disabled.

Correct, technically the BIOS I used is for at least two of the other boards in the same family ("family" being the list of boards on the front page of the manual linked in the first post). I did ask ASRock Rack support for the latest bios specifically for this board, but the one they eventually sent me was only like 2 minor versions ahead of the one that was already on the board.

To Markess's question, as far as I can remember, nothing disappeared from the BIOS settings when going from the original BIOS to the new one. But I wasn't specifically doing before/after comparisons on most of the BIOS tabs.

this BIOS 1.20 is bitwise identical to the BIOS 1.20 for the EPYC3251D4I-2T

I just got one. wish i saw they were previously $30

they were pulled from the open19 blades asrock rack made. the seller is actually selling the full blades as well.

they have a weird firmware on them and is trying to call an OData server for firmware. No BMC access on http, and the BIOS is missing the options to configure BMC.

going to attempt to flash with the firmware from asrock rack, however the only options seem to be the 3101 or the 3251 ROM. Might make try flashing with the 3251 ROM, will report back if it works. might try updated BMC firmware for the 3251 board as well as they use the same aspeed chip.

has anyone figured out a source for the 24pin to 4 pin atx adapter for these boards? It's not the "mini" 4 pin that comes on newer Asrock Rack boards.
I made my own out of a 24 pin extension cable and some four pin ATX ends. got both on amazon

I've got two of these now. The first one I bought on June 2nd, so just before this thread as I paid $25. It worked fine but I couldn't get any output on the VGA port. I spoke to the seller and they sent me another one for just the cost of shipping (so like $12). However, new one does the same thing. No output on the VGA port.

Anyone run into a similar issue?

BMC works fine on both as i was able to use remote kvm to install linux mint. Claude seems to think it's a custom BMC firmware causing the issue. (I disabled SOL and everything, no luck)

~$40 for 2 isn't a terrible deal. The lack of networking is kinda a killer. I didn't have a intended use case for them, just thought it would be fun to tinker with at $25 and a decent little test bench. (although, i would really like the VGA port to work for a testbench)

have you a real VGA monitor plugged ?
its real analog VGA. most adapters don't work.
e.g. VGA -> DVI adapter need rgb support from monitor, this feature is rare nowadays.
