whoa super cool. could you share the shape files for your setup?I just bought 4 of them. You'll spend almost as much making them functional as you do on the boards themselves, but they're good boards once you update the BMC and the BIOS. Here's what I had to buy:
4x nodes - $50/node - $200/total
16x 8gb 2133 ECC ram (I already had lying around) - probably $40/node - $160/total
2.5gb M.2 NIC - $25/node - $100/total
Boot USB (also had them lying around) - $10/node - $40/total
Cheap managed 8-port 2.5gb/10gb uplink switch - $60/total
Power supply, fans, cabling, etc (I designed/3d-printed this custom) - $100/total
3d-printed 10" rack (~2 rolls of filament @ $15/roll) - $30/total
Honestly, not too bad for a 4-node diskless Kubernetes cluster w/16/32 cores, IPMI, 128GB ram, 10GB total throughput. $700 ($175/node) all-in if you were buying everything from scratch, $500 ($125/node) with what I had laying around.
Did you use it for a PCIe adapter, or to use as SATA breakout? I used a cheap oculink cable to a cheap OCUlink to PCIe adapter. I couldn't get anything I plugged in to be recognized at all.First off: The Supermicro CBL-SAST-0933 OCuLink cable works in these. I didn't want that detail to get lost in the philosophical rambling to follow.
I’ve also been looking into one for this board. Was hoping to use this but the bios doesn’t show an x8x4x4 option for pcie bifurcation. Can anyone recommend a riser for the PCIE slot?
is there no EFI shell in BIOS and socflash.efi ?took some time to create a FreeDos usb drive and loaded up socflash.exe and the updated firmware
Would you mind posting the commands you used?Actually it does reset the password, I was able to flash using socflash.efi with a bootable EFI shell stick, i think the 'option=r' resets the BMC config.
I was then able to log in with admin/admin
Instantflash wouldn't recognize the BIOS ROM file, so I'm flashing via IPMI.

I don't know if it was just me, but I could not find the .efi file on the AsRock site, so I just used .exe and FreeDos instead. The socflash link from earlier in the thread no longer works.is there no EFI shell in BIOS and socflash.efi ?
I was unable to find socflash_x64.efi and socflash.efi did not work with this board. I ended up using the windows files from within Windows Server 2012 R2. And that worked without problems.I don't know if it was just me, but I could not find the .efi file on the AsRock site, so I just used .exe and FreeDos instead. The socflash link from earlier in the thread no longer works.
I use it for test purposes only. Once I finished I installed a NVMe drive and loaded Linux.
I see that you got it flashed already, but if anyone else needs to flash it, I just followed Dave Corder's command:Would you mind posting the commands you used?
I've uploaded the EFI flasher here:socflash.exe if=EPYC3000D4I_2T_P1.30.00.ima option=r
According to AI I needed socflash_x64.exe and it was nowhere to be found. I'm sure it would be useful to others if you happen to have it.I see that you got it flashed already, but if anyone else needs to flash it, I just followed Dave Corder's command:
I've uploaded the EFI flasher here:

And to create a bootable EFI shell USB drive, you just format the drive as FAT32, then extract the zip to the root of the USB drive:

Maybe I'm missing something. What AI told me I needed was socflash_64.efi - Not the .efi at the end. I have socflash_64.exe but I thought it was a different file. Anyway, I could not get it to work with .efi anything. AI told it was because I needed socflash_64.efi and it could not tell me where to get it, said something about Aspeed no longer making it availableI actually found all the socflash builds included with the Tyan S8030 motherboard, just download the BMC v6.02 package and it will contain all the socflash builds:
The x64 is included as well.
