Has anyone tried this? I couldn't find any information around.

My server runs the SM X10SDV-8C-TLN4F with 2x 10GbE ports via the Intel X557. Intel's product page says nothing about 2.5GbE support, so I'm assuming it's a no-go.

I won't be going 10GbE any time soon on my internal network, but figured I could grab a USB3 2.5GbE for my workstation for a direct connection to the to speed up some file transfers. Thought I'd see if anyone had first hand experience before writing it off.

X557 is a PHY, used to connect to SOC integrated 10G Ethernet MAC
integrated MAC only supports 10G/1G, so there is no 2.5G/5G support

Ah that clears it all up. Completely missed the fact that X557 was PHY not MAC. Thanks much!
