Xpenology is perfect for this small server. No need to add more memory.
I have 2 HP N40L running Xpenology, what I like is about HP is living room quiet, they are actually located in the living room next to my sofa. It holds 6 drives, and fast enough for Xpenology.

How about something with a little more oomph? Amazon is selling the Lenovo TS140 for $219

It's a little bit bigger, but has an i3-4130, 3 x 3.5" bays, plus 2 x 5.25" bays. It sips power and is very quiet. It has been sold for $199 in the past

It is also a good choice, I have two TS140 with the E3 series processor running 24x7 as well. It is also very quiet.

The difference between HP and Lenovo is the size, and hard drive mounting hardware. HP Microserver is just right as a NAS.

Purchased HP N54L from Tigerdirect this morning, $180 - $25 PayPal discount = $155 free shipping , No CA tax.
Cheaper than I could build it myself. I have 2 other HP microserver, using it with Xpenology as backup server.
