Link. 10 are available for $175 each. The auction ends in 19 hours.

Spec Sheet
Tweaktown Review

They are read focused drives with performance similar to the Intel S3500. The specs show slow write speeds, but the Tweaktown review shows large sequential write speeds are excellent. Another big difference: The 480GB S3500 is rated for 275TBW and the Toshiba is rated for 880TBW.

I intended to buy a few, but I couldn't pass up the deal on the SV843.

Great find! These are also less expensive than the cheapest 480GB DC S3500 on ebay ($200 obo with a seller that will probably take $175): Intel SSD DC S3500 Series 480GB P N 717968 002 | eBay

I will see if I can get 1-2 for a review.

I actually think most of these 400GB and larger SSDs are a nice deal now.
I bought one S3500 (your link) 2 days ago. Seller accepted $170. I would assume seller would take $150-$160 if bought two(all).
Since I need one for my proxmox, was thinking to use hardware raid5 lsi 9260(already have that) and changed my mind to use straight non raid with one 480G SSD.
I will wait to see the result, if planing back to raid5 , I would buy anohter 480G S3500, this seem SSD price on ebay is dropping (good for everyone).
I would stick with Intel and Samsung since they serves me well so far.

what do you think on SSHD in Raid 5 (3 Drives) ?. this is an alternate choice for getting cheap $$$ than SSD. Thanks!

That would be me!

And earlier this week I bought (for work):
1) 12 800GB 12G SAS SSDs ($7K from HP but only $370 on eBay)
2) 96 240GB SATA SSDs - a mix of Intel S3500 and Samsung 840 Pro
3) 18 200GB Intel S3700s SSDs
4) 36 Samsung SMT843T 240GB

and for personal use:
1) 1 960GB Samsung SV843 SSDs - super deal at $343 thanks to the STH tip

Let's see: That's 45TB of SSD this week! Definitely a personal best.

What is this?!?! Toshibas? Seagates? (I'd buy 2 more if you have a source for review purposes.)

And nice nab on the SV843. I may try to get one or two for a review.

Toshiba PX02SMF080. I'd loan you one, but you already reviewed them - 1GB/s and 10 full drive writes per day. The seller does have four more - right here. They will sell for less than the listing price.

But if you want to test the SV843, I can spare it for a month or so.

I do not want to put you out sir. I will see if I can get one, and may send you a note in a day or two if I cannot. I actually have 3-4 drives tested and in queue for reviews and another 3-5 drives inbound. Those Toshibas are great though.

shhh...I need time to make up my mind. I was on the market for a few more platters to speed up my ZFS bulk storage array. Instead I've "accidentally" bought around 4TB of enterprise grade SSDs this month. The devil on my shoulder is telling me to get a few more SSDs and use the platters I have in a semi offsite backup server.

The biggest hurdle right now is how to mount all of these little drives. I currently have a 6 x 2.5" icydock backplane that works well. Do I get a few more icydocks, a purpose built 2.5" server chassis or fabricate something and deal with a mess of cables?

You buy one of these: Supermicro CSE 216 24 Bay 2U Server Chassis SAS216A Backplane PWS 501P 1R Supply | eBay Best offer at about $175 will probably get it and about $40 for the missing drive trays. Its probably less expensive than 6x icy-docks, more reliable and more satisfying. Besides, the 500w PSU in this box also happens to be a nice Platinum rated switching PSU.

At the end of the day I'm betting the man who can afford 4TB+ of SSD on a whim won't have any trouble handing the cost of a decent chassis to mount them in.

I almost bought the one with the trays and bigger PSU. The backplane appears to only be rated for SAS and not SAS 2.0. Has anyone had success running this with sata3 drives at full speed?

I bought one with 501p PSU from pig.. Links
The backplane is not expander version.

Sure . same 6g ssds are installed. And detected as 6g.
I am using proxmox. Yeah moving from esxi free...
I believe. If you are running all ssd. 501p is more than enough.

Offer accepted. Now to get the trays and maybe a second PSU. I do sort of wish this case had space for at least 2 3.5" drives. I'm probably better off sticking them in a replication server anyway.

Thanks PigLover and everyone else :)
