Server Memory that works on Supermicro boards! I've had this on my watchlist for over 1 year. It finally dropped. My last 32gb Ram didn't work (over 16gb) on my Supermicro Board/Esxi Server (It changed suppliers mid-year and screwed a lot of us, luckily for me my Lenovo ThinkServer likes it). I ordered 2.

On that board I would go with Registered ECC ram, you can get it cheaper than the Unbuffered ECC. I have been averaging ~$50-60 per 8GB stick of registered ECC (used, but still good).

HAHA, nice, I picked up my last crucial kits for my X9SCM boards at $205, then $185, was stuck there FOREVER, now I saw it on newegg last night for $154.99

Good pickup for anyone looking to jump on these. I'm still happy w/ the price I got them at but it always sucks when you JUST bought something then look a day or two later and the price slipped even more. :-(

I haven't run Kingston DDR4 yet but have had no problems with the DDR3 in the couple SM boards I have some in.
Most of what I buy is Hynix or Samsung. (Or OEM rebrands.) DDR4 $166 is nice for 16gb it's dropping. I paid $179 a couple months ago, and it was down to $155.

That's too bad. I've had Kingston DDR3 in both my SuperMicro (X9 and X10) servers at home for 1.5 years with no issues. But I'm looking to populate the new SM D-1540 board and trying to save as much as I can on 32GB of RAM (with room to expand later).

In my specific application (E3 Xeon proc/X9SCM mobo) I am limited to 4x 8 gb dimms and 32 GB max ram so yeah the 16 GB sticks are no good for me.

Why did you have to mention the D-1540...now I am just jealous.
