Found out about this on a thread from another forum and then investigating on my own to find the best deals which I've summarized below. All drives are factory recertified (not seller refurbs) and come with a 2yr warranty:

Seagate 10TB exos for $130 ($13/TB) :

EDIT2: So did almost all of the 12TB and all the 14TB and all the 16TB!

Has anyone used manufacturer refurbished drives? Would these be ok for a home nas? Need to replace around 14 8TB drives with 14TB drives and these around 50-60$/drive cheaper

Usually, they're just as good as the original since these are what are sent out when someone has a warranty replacement--or at least that is my understanding. I'd call up the company and talk to them since you're doing a bulk deal and see what they say about the drives as well as a price break for your quantity. To give you some idea, these are all enterprise class drives that are better than the easystore shuck drives that everyone falls all over for, except with a 2yr warranty like the easystores. Except these were truly intended to be enterprise drives and are sold as such, not some sort of gimped enterprise-esque drive shoved in an external enclosure for consumer use.

Can't speak for these drives but I have a couple dozen Seagate refurbs, the ones with the green border around the label and they have been hands down the most reliable drives I've ever owned. Most are 2 and 3TB, old as dirt and I have yet to have one fail on me.

I'm currently using 32 recertified white-label EXOS 16 16TB SAS drives. They've been flashed with retail seagate firmware and have been rock solid since they were deployed and I'm super happy with them.

I also have a few arrays with recertified drives, no problems at all. While for home use it doesn't matter, for business use we either have to get some spec sheet or warranty sheet that matches the requirements of the array, or we have to only use them for 'generated' data so dataloss is never actually dataloss.

Did 10TB sata pop up cheaper somewhere? I know the SAS models can be cheaper in both 8 and 10TB, but I haven't found warranted 10TB sata this cheap.

oh no you're right, I was thinking of SAS drives.
I've got a SAS HBA on my home server so i kind of gloss over on that detail

Yeah, SAS gives a lot more luxury than sata since you can use either type of drive. Unfortunately sata is more prevalent.

I ordered four 10tb hitachi drives. They just arrived, and were well packed. Any recommendations on how to test them under linux to be sure they are happy?

I will eventually make a mdadm array and measure its performance with bonnie++.

I have an esata enclosure with multiple bays so what I usually will do is boot up the parted magic live cd and run the short and long smart tests there since they can be run in parallel on all the drives.
