Hi all. Sorry if this isnt the right place for this, but see a few people with the same board, running unraid.

I've taken delivery of the CW-NAS-ADLN-K, installed RAM, CPU Cooler and stuck Unraid on there.

For reference I've got 3x 3.5" 4TB Drives in the array, 2x 1TB m.2 SSDs in the cache pool.

The only thing I really run on here right now is my Home Assistant VM using cores 3 and 4 as shown in the attachment.

I get consistently high CPU usage, causing Home Assistant to run slow, as well as Unraid UI too. To be clear, nothing else is running at this time, no dockers or file transfers etc. A reboot will resolve it, but slowly comes back after a couple of days.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I have made the changes as @Flowex has suggest above for power saving in the BIOS, if that matters at all.

I’m also running Home Assistant in a VM and have no issues.
I installed it via the app from the Unraid App Store — it’s called HomeAssistant_inabox.
After the installation, I disabled the HomeAssistant_inabox Docker container. You don’t really need it anymore once the VM is set up.

How did you install your VM?
I’ve configured Home Assistant to use all 4 CPU cores.

Take a look at the logs and system logs inside Home Assistant to see if there are any errors.
Otherwise, you could try reinstalling Home Assistant without adding anything at first, just to see if the problem still happens.

Also, it might be worth checking the Unraid logs to see if there’s anything noticeable there.

I built the VM using this video:
tbf I've used Unraid and Home Assistant for 5+ years and always used this method.

I dont necessarily think it's Home Assistant causing the issues, it's more Unraid.

One thing I did notice, is that I used the "Pinned Cores" option in the VM settings, assigning CPU 3 and 4 to Home Assistant. I've since changed this to 2 vCPUs and deselecting the pinned cores. This was never an issue on my old Ryzen 2700x board, as there was much more processing power to use.

I was using powertop --auto-tune also, which after a reboot I've decided not to do, wasnt sure if this was causing issues also

I've made the above changes, as well as given it a quick reboot. Been ok for 24 hours, so we'll see how it goes.

Dont want to jinx it, but seems to be running much better.

Converted main array from ZFS to XFS too. Assigned 4 cores to Home Assistant, same as what Flowex mentioned, everything is stable now for a few days. Very happy with the purple board now. Was hoping for slightly less power usage, but overall, can't complain.

Code:
01:00.0 Non-Volatile memory controller: MAXIO Technology (Hangzhou) Ltd. NVMe SSD Controller MAP1202 (rev 01) (prog-if 02 [NVM Express])
LnkCap: Port #0, Speed 8GT/s, Width x4, ASPM not supported
LnkCtl: ASPM Disabled; RCB 64 bytes, Disabled- CommClk+
What PCI root port is my NVME "Non-Volatile memory controller: MAXIO Technology" in the BIOS? It is the only device I can't get ASPM enabled?

According to the manufacturer, it supports ASPM and was advertised as being, "low power consumption."

After having to redo BIOS settings that * time after a simple reboot, I returned the purple CW-NAS-ADLN-K N100. Even the "restore user defaults" does not work consistently. As someone posted earlier, you need/earn a PhD on this board to get it working 100%. Other issues I noticed.
  • The HDD LED was not functional. Even when I shared the common ground with the power LED.
  • The reset switch was not functional. Only holding down the power button works to reset.
  • The manual boot selection in the BIOS option was flaky sometimes; the board would forget what you asked it to boot from USB.
  • Booting off a USB would sometimes fail. The boot process would freeze or simply not work. I think everyone experiences this sometimes, but it happened quite a few times.
  • It failed Intel's genuine CPU verification. This could be because the CPU is new and the software is outdated.
  • Power consumption was 20 to 24 watts at idle. I was able to get it down to 15 watts. My NVME would not go into ASPM; however, that may have just been the drive. Either way, it would not have gotten me down to sub 10 watts.
  • Really bad performance on the 2.5GB network card. My router is only 1GB, but I was getting sub-100 MB speeds during some longer transfers.

Thanks to all the people who helped out and responded to my questions. I will be around.

Hi all, recently got a cwwk n150 board (purple). There seems to be a lot to learn, so many bios I could/should tweak, so I'm going through this thread. I don't even understand some of the acronyms or features in the bios, what to turn on/off but I'll see.

So far I've installed 32GB crucial 4800 memory. Tested it with a spare SSD and installed truenas, which seems to run fine. I do want to run truenas for my final NAS OS.
After my 2x12tb ironwolf drives had arrived I needed to test them, so had another small SSD from old laptop with windows 10 on and swapped that in. The system did not boot and kept coming back to bios in a loop. So, I looked in bios and thought if the 2xHDD's were the issue and chose staggered spin up, it worked.
My PSU is an older Antec 380 80plus bronze PSU, I'm sure it should have plenty of power for the system or theres something to do with the bios elsewhere. Anyway, in windows I ran hd sentinel and the HDDs passed after 2 days of running, they passed and got to test hardware a bit, it never crashed.
I will now go back to Truenas but what are some important settings I need to change in bios for always on use. I trying to follow about c states and other things but anything else crucial? Thanks

Good afternoon,

I am once again encountering issues with the motherboard (CW-ADLN-NAS-V10). The system experiences random freezes (unraid system). I am attempting to connect a monitor in order to access the BIOS and adjust the C-states; however, the video output port has not provided any signal so far. Could you please clarify the potential cause?

At this stage, I am rather dissatisfied with the performance of this motherboard. Could you advise whether there is an alternative product with similar specifications but higher build quality?

Hi. I recently got a bkhd-1264-nas-n150 like the rest of you. Did anybody figure out the sysfan PWM control? I can see the RPM in the bios but it seems like there is no way to adjust it. I am running unraid. I have Noctua noise adapters somewhere if its the only option.

Where can I find the latest BIOS for the following motherboard?

images.jpeg

I tested the following BIOS version (I believe it is the latest). The update process completes successfully, and I can access the BIOS interface. However, when booting into UNRAID, no hard drives are detected.

This appears to be a BIOS-related issue, as reverting to a previous version restores full functionality.
