No, you can't, the slot is physically different and you can't put a stick of ddr4 in a ddr5 slot. Not to mention the performance in a single-channel configuration is way way better on ddr5.
Thank you. This is an extremely good reason indeed. Never touched DDR5 till now :)

Any update on “cw-nas-adln-k” (purple n100) power consumption? I am wondering if it is worth to update my asus prime n100 motherboard (21W idle, 4 disks spin down)

Yeah but I heard when aspm is support correctly cpu should stay at c6-c8 so around 6W idle instead 20W (I am stuck on c3, my motherboard does not play well with aspm)

Wait what? What Cstates does your MB achieve when idling? I have the BKHD N100 mobo with one ssd, 4xHDDs, disabled jmb585 controller and an ASM1166 connected via a pcie slot. Idling at 16 to 18w

This is not true based on my tests. My board limited to C6 in BIOS (anything higher makes it unstable) and ASPM is enabled (L1)

The best I can get is C3 on my asus prime n100, Realtek nic blocks higher c states that’s why I am thinking to buy something better

CPU 2.5-3W in idle ( full system power consumption with NVME in 4x slot and 2 HDD's spinning, a second NVME asm1166 controller to 6 SATA and 5 fans - 25W-30W at the power socket )
CPU 17W in full load/stress test ( power consumption 55W with a peak at 60W ). Also important, PSU is a gold 550W.

Spinning disk consume 2.5-5W itself... You probably have to check your measurement equipment ;)

it's just a smart plug, nothing fancy, and the PSU is a gold 550W, I doubt it can go below 25W at low power anyways.

how is a normal usage irrelevant number? Is using a normal gold PSU irrelevant these days? Do you think everyone has GAN power transformers running off solar power or something? Stop taking everything to an extreme.
Numbers are so people in similar situations can compare, I'm not here to achieve 0 power emission server.

You normal usage numbers are fake, not way such system consume 3w idle, it is just misleading. Glad you at least adjusted them to be more connected to reality.

where did I say the SYSTEM consumes 3w?

L.E. Yes. I'm a funny guy, with fake numbers from fake apps on fake Linux. Must be the fake CPU on the fake mobo.

I bought the purple CW-NAS-ADLN-K without the bundled cooler.

I tried to put a Noctua L9i on it, but the radiator was resting on some capacitors.

Anybody with this board have a cooler they recommend?

I'm building a NAS in a Jonsbo N2 so I'm looking for something 65mm tall or less.

The Noctua cooler was sitting high on the caps, no real contact with the cpu. I’ll look into the thermalright.

Random freezing problem on cwwk n100 board, has anyone fixed it? is the problem due to RAM? Someone told me, their board uses SK Hynix which is very stable. I am using Crucial 16gb bus 4800 on cwwk n100.
