I saw that but it's an Auction.

If it's like the EPYC 7642 Server, it will be an absolute "Joy" to handle. It works well once it's booted up, but the number of Times it get stuck before/during Post is vastly superior to the Number of Times that it boots successfully (the EPYC one at least) .

Finally, if you need to ship outside of UK, you will have to arrange that yourself (Shipping set to £9.999,99 by the Seller for non-UK Customers), that's what they told me in the Past at least.

Therefore, I thought that auction can be shared and is something worth to follow. These auctions barely have > 3-4 bids and mostly close very low. Never seen LGA3647 locked, but ok. They are having such a hard time moving them that id expect even a 50/ea bid to be gladly accepted at this point.
Been listed for 4-5 months now and they have still sold 0 by the looks of it.

Bargainhardware is down to 150£ to start speccing them on their site now, and they got the mobo with onboard sfp+ populated.
They have had them since november and sold tens of them.

Finally, if you need to ship outside of UK, you will have to arrange that yourself (Shipping set to £9.999,99 by the Seller for non-UK Customers), that's what they told me in the Past at least.

I was quoted 300area for a pallet to Norway when i contacted the freighter they said they primarily use.

Looks like they share the exact motherboard too.

• CPU0: OCP x16 and OCP x8
• CPU0: 8x SATA + 6x sSATA (secondary SATA controller, Marvell I think?)
• CPU1: both x16 PCIe 3.0 Risers (yes, neither riser works without both CPUs!)
• CPU1: M.2 Slot (that's right! you can't use the M.2 slot without both CPUs!)
• You can install 4x extra DDR4 DIMMs into the 4x additional DCPMM (Optane) slots and the system initializes it. So, running 16x4GB sticks nets me 64 GB.
  • However, since these Skylake-SP CPUs are only 6-channel, I removed the ram in the DCPMM slots as I am sure that is downclocking/interleaving memory or some other mis-matched channel restriction. So, 48 GB it is for me.
• 2x Xeon 3106 (8C @ 1.7 Ghz) works fine.
  • At $55ea, very inexpensive backup server.

Note the BIOS was nearly impossible to find and no updated BMC (that was finicky to work around).

I'm still running ours as a backup server with 8x 3.5" and a number of 2.5" SSDs, and dual "bronze" lowend 8-core CPUs w/12x 4GB sticks. With spindown, the server idles around 95W at the wall. Not bad actually. I could knock it down to around 65W if I removed the 2nd CPU and 6x memory sticks. But those are needed to access the single M.2 slot and both HHHL PCIe slots. And that OCP SAS3008 controller is another 10-12W too, if I had the hindsight to go all SATA.

it's 12x SATA onboard to the chipset, not SAS, with 3x SFF-8087 connectors on the motherboard that breaks out to 4x SATA each. I posted the details in the OP in the link above. Dual SFP25, dual PCIe x16 (both connected to CPU1, so dual CPUs are needed for the slots), dual OCP 2.0 slots (one is the dual SFP25), though the SAS3008 (I think that was the model) was very hard to pin down and find. I posted the exact model in that thread somewhere.

I used a couple of old Hyve 1U PCie risers that fit perfectly, but I think you can use just about any riser as the spacing seems standard.

Note that this does not take the high-wattage Platinum CPUs. It doesn't have the VRMs for them, nor the quicklink connection, and it would not recognize them when I inserted various ones.

It's a VERY QUIET server, once you get into the BMC and pick the silent option.

You know, I should look into the memory bandwidth to see how it would do with LLM inference. I saw a redditor post their dual 8647 Skylake-SP CPU machine with over 200 GB/s across the 12x channels.

I can't recall ATM. The details are in that thread I posted above.

Rails were specific to this chassis. The Chenbro nr12000 is the closes match to fullsize machine and rails, but only 1 hole lined up where the other holes did not.

I already began splitting the RAM I had across several systems, and the Trend is going to continue for a while unfortunately . I would guess he does the same.
