As stated, easy google search, but there you go.

Attached Screenshots from official datasheets for x710 and also x520. Please compare the Dual Port Variant, first line.
I'm not sure whats that ?

Do you have comparisons vs non Intel cards ? Say Mellanox ConnectX 3 or 4 Lx ?

You talked about ASPM a lot, do you have W numbers with or without it being enabled ?

X710 is 4.3W dual port SR. X520 is 10W. Only X710 plays nice with ASPM, the other cards don't (X520, ConnectX 3& 4)

Do we have actual power consumptions available for 2 port X520 mini pc with N355 CPU and 4 port X710 mini pc with Intel Pentium Gold 8505 when only two 10G ports are in use? It would be nice to compare these in 10Gbit routing for consumption and performance.
Price difference is anyway ~150€ which is quite a lot.

Im currently comparing these either Topton or CWWK versions:

Or do we have better options in price range 300-400€?

n305 is still one of the best and cheapest CPUs for that

Yes i understand too that is good cpu for 10G but i'm just wondering whether there is power consumptions available to compare difference between these two setups since we know X710 consumes less power than X520 and propably N355 less than Pentium Gold 8505.
So what would be real world consuption and is there actually difference that matters?

I recently got this one:
Topton i7-13620H 2x10G SFP 10G SFP 4x2.5G Nics ( PcZinophyte 13th Gen Solid Firewall PC Core i7-13620H 2x10G SFP 10G SFP 4x2.5G Nics 2*DDR5 5G SIM Industrie Mini PC Computer Server: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör ).
Put in 64GB Crucial and a 2TB WD Red NVMe.
Proxmox with 4x Ubuntu 24.04 (Zabbix/2x Zabbix Proxy/UniFi Network Application Server) / 1x HAOS VM and 1x OPNsense with Zenarmor:
Around 40 Watts.

Turning off OPNsense, around 30 watts.
Measured with one of those IKEA plugs, I cannot type that name. ;)

There is also coming model Q10900U6 which seems to be perfect, except that i would like to see Intel X550 or some other energy efficient 10G NIC, not X540. I'm waiting for pricing, i got response that they will sen email when it is available to order.

The one with dual X710 SFP+ interface is interesting. I already bought the one with dual Aquantia NICs a couple of months ago though, when an SFP+ version wasn't available.

If you want energy efficient 10GBASE-T, Intel isn't really your best bet.

That dual Aquantia could be option for me too but i would like to run Opnsense and i understood there is not yet driver available so that is problem. For energy efficiency that might be best option so far.

Yeah, FreeBSD has subpar NIC driver support, so an Intel NIC is a better option in that case. :)

I am looking for a 10Gbps-capable router appliance for a while, and this one looks really nice. Is/will there be also a version with 6x Ethernet and 2x SFP using a Intel X710?

Is such a smaller N100-like processor actually capable to route 10Gbps over VLANs?

6 x Ethernet and 2 x SFP+? I doubt it. Alder Lake-N (and its successor in the N series) processors are very limited in terms of PCI-E bandwidth (just 9 PCI-E 3.0 lanes).

Why do you even need 6 x Ethernet ports?

I haven't benchmarked the N100 for routing, but I would expect it to handle it just fine. I'm aure you can find someone who has tested it themselves though. :)

I just noticed that they also have another upcoming model called the Q10900V6 that appears to be just like the Q10900U6, but with Intel X550 instead of X540 for the 10GBASE-T ports. Sounds like it's even closer to what you said you wanted? :)

While looking for the model mentioned above, I also came across the model below which is using a U-series CPU and 6 x Intel I225-V/I226-V + 2 x Intel X710 SFP+. I still doubt you'll find one using an N-series CPU though due to the limitations I mentioned.

I still don't really see the point in having so many network ports, but clearly some people find a use for it. :)

Well yes that is exactly what i asked few months ago but answer was that propably not going to produce since it would be too expensive. :)
I don't know what could be improved since now there is available the most reliable and low power nics to be used.
Let's wait for the pricing, hopefully it won't go too high. :)

Unfortunately this is not coming, at least not yet. I got bad news when i asked about price and availability::
The Q11032V6 (X550 and X710) is just for sample proofing, the final model is confirmed to Q11032U6 (X540 and X710).
The barebone price of Q11032U6 (X540 and X710) is about USD350.00

I see. Seems to be available on Alibaba, but perhaps just ready for bulk orders.

The Q10900U6 S13 (N305 + X710 + X540) appears to be available on AliExpress. Has anyone rolled the dice on one of these yet?

It sure is tempting for a firewall appliance. The RJ45 10g ports are nice for connecting to >1G ONT that seems to be on the rise for home fiber internet service, along with SFP+ for everything else 10g.

I am skeptical of the cooling capabilities of the enclosure. Imagine maxing out all four 10G ports and the CPU, I don't think there's enough aluminum there to safely keep the electronics happy. But a couple low-speed 120mm fans resting on top might be enough to keep things safe. Thoughts?
