Hey all
I got my first LSI SAS HBA this week (LSI SAS 2008) and now want to get a second for my home file server running Solaris 11.3.
I've found a good deal on a used LSI 9217-8i with the SAS 2308 chipset. It's priced the same as an OEM 9211-8i/SAS2008 but it's in the UK so I can get it...
Bought way too much gear for my home lab and in the process of inventorying all the excess HW and will be updating this thread. I've not done international shipping before and not familiar with the process. So, I'd prefer to limit it to CONUS but open to the idea of outside US. Prefer PayPal...
Hi guys
I was wondering if you could recommend a good guide on how-to flash a LSI SAS 9210-8i HBA Controller.
I´m going to use it for a Freenas Fileserver (ZFS) and need to flash it to IT mode.
Advice would be much appreciated.
The SuperMicro X10SDV-7TP4F ships with an onboard LSI-2116.
I've never worked with an HBA or a DAS before, so I'm may be doing this wrong, but here's what I want to do:
Hook up the 4 internal SFF-8643 ports to this Quad External MINI SAS HD SFF-8644 to Internal MINI SAS HD SFF-8643 12G...

Please, any suggestions are welcome. Even if they sound offensive. I know the simple things are missed more often than we like to admit.
I am chasing an issue with my recently purchased R720xd 3.5”...
Happy 2017!
I’m with The IT Mart. Our first post on the Intel 2U servers has been very well received, so I’m back with another special. (Here’s the Intel server if you’re interested).
We just got a bunch of H220 controllers. These are HP branded 9205-8i LSI cards, SAS 2308.

Purpose: A proper MODERN tutorial on updating the firmware on the IBM M1015 on a UEFI system, in my case my IBM M1015's were already crossflashed to LSI 8211-8i long ago with the older P16 firmware which I wanted to update to the latest firmware. It is the same process either way. This tutorial...
Hey all,
I have a Supermicro X11SAE-M and an IBM H1110 (SAS2004, sort of like a LSI 9211-4i but with an x4 form factor) with a Skylake Xeon E3 v5 CPU.
The H1110 works in the x16 slot, but is not recognised in the x4 slot (according to Linux lspci). It shows up in the LSI BIOS control center in...
I'm struggling with a setup between HyperV host and JBOD chassis (Supermicro 837-E26), using a dual-port 9305-8e HBA Windows MPIO doesn't recognize a second path. I've been trying to get a response out of LSI/Avago/Broadcom whatever they call themselves now, but after a month still no joy. Lack...
Hi,
I've got a couple of DELL C6100 XX2X2 mezzanine cards that I'm trying to flash from IR mode into IT mode. I believe these cards are based on the LSI SAS2008 chip. I've managed to flash the card successfully using LSI 9211-8i firmware, but the card doesn't seem to work properly (it detects...
Hi guys,
As I have two unused devices, I got the idea to try to make a starting point for a small DIY scalable SAN, so I need your help to find out the best way to achieve that:
ASRock machine
CPU: Celeron J1900 @ 1.99GHz
Chipset:
Motherboard: ASRock Q1900DC-ITX including...
I would like to know if the ATTO ExpressSAS H608 HBA card passes TRIM commands to the SATA SSDs connected to it.
I asked ATTO directly and this is the reply I got
The problem is that TRIM is a SATA option while the ATTO SAS HBAs expose devices as SCSI targets. Therefore, TRIM isn't even an...
