Don't call it a h-- t-- time machine
httm prints the size, date and corresponding locations of available unique versions (deduplicated by modify time and size) of files residing on ZFS snapshots, but can also be used to the interactively view and restore such files. 'httm' might change the way...
First post, so be gentle :)
I am investigating a firewall solution that would enable me to have a large number of interfaces / VLANs behind a firewall. My current go-to solution is pFSense, however due to some limitations of how the pfsense was written the system is mostly unable to deal with...
Hey,
so this has been an ongoing problem for me for at least a year now. It doesn't seem to have any negative effect other than being highly annoying.
I haven't noticed it on Linux VMs, but on my FreeBSD VMs (I've run at least 3 over the past year), my Samba configuration appears to be...
Hey,
so I've done a couple all-in-one ESXi boxes with either FreeNAS or FreeBSD with ZFS I pass to ESXi as NFS datastores. Tried to run VMs but benchmarks exposed gawd-awful write speeds, totally unusable. Just ended up using them for ISO storage and (slow) backups, content libraries, etc...
Hey I was finally able to trace the sensor readings using wireless temperature transmitter interface with raspberry pi
But I am curious to do it by using FreeNAS and FreeBSD services to achieve mention below points
- Send the readings from raspberry pi to FreeNas storage system where readings...

However, I have been trying to move certain files using rsync...
Yes, I know pfSense is meant to run fine on abstracted virtual switches. But I have hardware that will expose SR-IOV to the VM, so I'd prefer to use that, if at all possible. I can provide SR-IOV to a Windows VM fine and can even find details for setting it up for Linux, but am getting nowhere...
With AMD's Zen around the corner, I am getting ideas about what I might do with a crazy number of CPU cores.
I am looking to build a computer for use as a multi-seat workstation. I would like to have my host be some very stripped down OS (as close to "bare metal" as possible), and exclusively do...
Hey Guys
I was thinking if anyone in this forum might answer me couple of things i don´t know the answers to myself.
1) I know you can run ZFS on a virtual machine if you do PCI passthrough (with LSI controller with the 2008 chipset). But i´m wondering who provides a good service running ZFS...
