The fans on mine definitely aren't running at full speed during normal operation. It isn't the loudest 1U server I have owned, but it is still pretty loud, definitely a lot louder than newer Dell 1U servers under normal operation.

I did some more searching and found that the DPS-500AB-2 A supply is also used in some HP servers under the 633680-101 labeling. The HP version is only rated for 200-277V input and has a weird power plug, so...

I installed a pair of QFRE Xeon E5-2622 v3 processors into mine and haven't had any issues. Considering the E5-2622 v3 (non-ES) isn't even on their compatible CPU list these servers probably aren't super picky.
The V4 CPUs might need a BIOS update to work though.
It has a backplane connected to some sort of controller card in one of the PCIe slots. The controller has DAS2BTH48A0 printed on it.
