So I've been able to get it booting, though, not without a a couple of oddities to still sort out. blacklisting nouveau on an arch livecd was enough to get me to a shell which revealed what was going on with the apparent hang. It wasn't actually hanging, though, there is something strange...
Hopefully this is the appropriate place to throw this but with my new build (a 3995WX and WRX80E-SAGE) I'm running in to a couple of odd issues.
Background is it's a new build but the boot drives have been moved over from a prior threadripper build. It's a triple boot setup (debian, gentoo...
Chalk this one up to pebkac...
Left one card plugged in to the machine while off for about 20 minutes and one unplugged from the machine. Subsequent power on got rid of the error and I was able to complete the flashes and the cards are working.
I've got a pair of 9340' s I'm trying to crossflash with the IT firmware. Jumping J6 and flashing SAS9300_8i_it.bin works fine, but after removing the jumper and booting I get:
MPT BIOS Fault 10h
Booting in to efi shell and doing a -listall doesn't show the adapters. They will only show with...
If I had the boxes and stuff to ship it that's what I'd do but since I don't and, in this area, the number of people interested is small, I'm only asking 75.

Anyone had trouble getting the 10G nics to connect? I've got a spare Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU3M DAC but it doesn't bring up the connection. I know the cable is good so I'm guessing the Xeon D doesn't like the cable.
I was wondering this myself. I was quite worried I'd idle hot after seeing what other people were posting, but I'm idling ~57C and under load it'll go up to ~80C. The 80C seems kind of hot, but maybe it isn't. I was thinking about bugging someone with a 3D printer to print up something I...
You're about where I was a year ago. I don't know how much this will help out but here's my current setup and some of the things I've learned along the way.
12U Rack
1x48 Port Managed Switch
3xC2750 Atoms in 1U's, ESX cluster
1xX10SDV-4C-7TP4F in a RPC-4224 Chasis for NAS, 11x4TB in RAIDz3...
I'll agree on this one. I just replaced a the MB/CPU (X8ST3-F + L5640) in my NAS with a X10SDV-4C-7TP4F. Power usage dropped about 100W according to the readout on my UPS (now stands at 120-130W with 11x4TB drives). I'm eying a couple of 1508's too to replace my current VM cluster (2x1508 +...
I'm trying to setup pfSense as a guest in my ESX cluster and it's stumped me as to why it can't pull an IP.
My current setup is the typical home router flashed with tomato with port 1 connected to a DGS-1210-48. Not wanting to mess with the current network while I toy around with pfSense I...
