According to users who've tested them on Slickdeals, they are CMR w/ Helium and 7200RPM. This is according to CrystalDiskMark. I'll have two here tomorrow and can provide an update.

The Supermicro SAS2 and TQ backplanes do not need any tape to work. I use 10-12TB drives (WD) and they have no problems or need any tape.

Nope, not Canadian, lol. I got mine from Amazon for $323 w/ prime shipping. I had the 4 port version on order from BalticNetworks, but the 2 month wait at the time was just not worth it. Sure, I'm spending more, but I'm also a bit future proofing.
