Has anyone measured the idle power consumption of their i5-1315u variant?
Also, how adequate is the cooling of a M.2 SSD since there's no forced airflow in the bottom? How hot does the CPU get under a stress test?
Has anyone tried these variants that have a fan in the top of the case?

With these you can get a 8505 barebones system for $180-200 before any...
Thanks for the reply. This will be my first "DIY" router so I don't know where the extra ports might be useful. Seems like I just need a WAN port and a LAN port.
I have a N100 Beelink EQ12 already that I've been using for ~6 months as media player running LibreELEC. I have no real complaints...
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've read most of the thread. If I'm just looking to run bare metal OPNsense on a N100 variant what's the advantage of the CWWK/Topton/Hunsn box vs. a Beelink EQ12? Especially if I end up adding a fan to the passive CWWK/Topton/Hunsn box.
A Beelink EQ12...
Thank you... I hadn't thought to be looking for single sticks of OEM memory. I found quite a few listings on eBay for 16GB 2rx8 DDR4 3200Mhz SODIMMs.
Edit: I used the OEM part numbers on the SODIMMs that I found earlier to find more listings for them. I also discovered that eBay's search...
I think that means an 8 chip DDR4 SODIMM could also be dual rank (or not)...
Can a 16 chip SODIMM DDR4 be single rank? (1x16?)
Is trying to find 16 chip SODIMMs my best bet to maximize the likelihood of getting dual rank SODIMMs?
I have an AMD Zen 3 based mini PC with 2 DDR4 SODIMM slots. Everything I've read says dual rank memory has the best performance in AMD systems. How can I determine the rank of a given SODIMM before buying? I'm trying to get a 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz kit.
Crucial will list the rank config, but for...
Yesterday I bought a slightly used M75q gen 2 (Zen 3) via eBay and the SSD is wiped / seller says it has no OS, but it originally came with Windows 10 64-bit via downgrade rights (looking up the SN at Lenovo). The Windows product key is stored in the BIOS and I should be able to just install...
I'm not sure how different the market is in Europe, but some US auctions on eBay for the 5950X end in the $425 range. A new one is only $520 at Microcenter.
I can't help it that you don't value your time, but I do. My time is worth more to me than fussing with buying and returning stuff on eBay. Additionally, it's a bit of a dick move since the seller made no claims about the life left and you know you're rolling the dice with a used SSD. If I care...
Well, I guess this thread answers my question about who buys used SSD's of unknown health.
The last used SSD I bought said at least 95% health in the listing. The drive I got had ~13.5k power on hours hours on it and only 36GB written to it out of the 7PB it's rated for. o_O
