    S3700 200Gb OS drive

While I was dealing for the S3700 drives a I was offered this: Disco Ssd Estado Solido Intel 1.6 Tb - $ 5,500.00 (300 USD) You can see the crystaldiskinfo, I think is a good deal, drive has warranty the only concern for me it's probably too big? What do you think?

    S3700 200Gb OS drive

There are still available 5x S3700 200Gb and 5x S3500 480Gb, the only issue is with raid10 I would use 4 SATA and the Xeon-D 1528 only has 6 SATA . Do you think this would be faster than using a NVMe (either m2 or PCI).

Building an ESXi server (1.5/2 k budget)

You should buy only memory sticks listed by Supermicro, like this one: Samsung 32 GB reg. ECC DDR4 DIMM SDRAM M393A4K40BB0-CPB - Sona Check the website for the motherboard you want to get. The drawback with Wirezone in Europe you have to add EU VAT to that price, so at the end that box in...

Need help with server build: D-1528 or D-1541

Interesting post as I'm in the same situation :) I started with the possibility of the 1518 (4c), then @Patrick remind me of the 1528, just between the 1518 and the 1541. My build is going to be a home lab, just experimenting and learning, however will not be operating (most probably ) 24x7...

    Intel DC S3700 800GB $ 399

@T_Minus really nice explanation, I guess everything depends on the use case, I like what I hear about the fusion but If I build the lab with Xeon-D the PCIe is very limiting. @Marsh That's really awesome, so you only have in the Fusion-IO the 4 VMs, the Hyper-V boots from a different disk...

    Intel DC S3700 800GB $ 399

What's the benefit of the Fusion IO vs Enterprise SSD/NVMe ? I want to use them for a Xeon-D build that I'm planning , the only drawback I see with the Fusion-IO is that it would take the only PCIe on the board. @zhoulander: for all the Fusion-IO is not a bad price... The problem is shipping...
