    MinisForum MS-01 : heating problem

I'll have to disagree. Cooling could be better but isn't flawed. There are many tiny/micro/mini homelabbers here at STH and we run basically the same form factor as the ms-01 and our machines are running fine for years.

I'll be using PTM7950 in mine when it arrives although I have some liquid metal lying around. Has anyone tried that yet?

    Minisforum MS-01 - 2 x 10Gbe SFP+, 2 x 2.5Gbe RJ45, 3 x NVMe, 1 x U.2, 1 x PCI 4.0 x 16 slot & vPro

After watching the chinese YT vids, seems that the U.2 is limited to 7mm drives. My optane 905p is 15mm so I'll have to find a pcie card.

    Minisforum MS-01 - 2 x 10Gbe SFP+, 2 x 2.5Gbe RJ45, 3 x NVMe, 1 x U.2, 1 x PCI 4.0 x 16 slot & vPro

    Minisforum just launched this and it's tempting me to replace some of my m720q/m920q systems especially at it's $549 price. Highlights would be, 2* 10G SFP+ ports 2* 2.5G RJ45 ports 1* PCIe 4.0 x16 slot 3* NVMe (22110) 1* U.2 Lowlight, 2* Sodimm for a max of 96gb...

No issues with a mellanox connectx-3 single sfp+. Others will have a better idea with dual and quad cards.

Both seemed to be brand new looking at SMART info. The PM991a runs much hotter from what I remember if that matters.

    Intel Optane 905P Series 960GB, U.2, $339

Newegg is selling the Optane at $339 here, Intel Optane 905P Series 960GB, 2.5" x 15mm, U.2, PCIe 3.0 x4, 3D XPoint Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDPE21D960GAM3 - Newegg.com. I snagged one for fun. I think it's slightly lower then the previous sale price. Previous sale price was the same.

The first post in this thread has a table that specifies which Lenovo has a pcie slot and any of those with your x540 will be fine. I use m720q and m920q with mellanox connectx-3. You'll need to find a riser from ebay or taobao which the first post also lists their part numbers.

I can't find the reddit thread but I saw someone fit an Optiplex sff into a 1u Supermicro chassis. Perhaps something you can consider?
