Anyone had any experience with QNAP VIOSTOR kit?
They look like normal QNAP NAS's but with a CCTV software installed instead of the NAS one - I've looked on the QNAP forums but it looks like discussions on converting between VIOSTOR & QNAP NAS is forbidden.
I've picked up a cheap VioStor...
Work just scrapped some old storage arrays and I've managed to get my hands on some bits for free!

We have just decommissioned an old Isilon array - it consists of 2 * X410 modules and 2 * NL410 modules.
Unfortunately due to GDPR/PCI regulations all the drives have already been removed and shredded (all 144 of them).
So apart from the 64Gb of 8Gb DDR3 10600R sticks of ram and 10Gbe network...
Work are throwing out a couple of 1U 4-bay appliances and I might be able to get them for free....
They're rebadged SuperMicro 1U severs with X11SSW-F m/b with the 3x PCIe 8x risers installed.
One slot has a LSI SAS controller in the other has a 4-port 1Gb nic, they have 16Gb of DDR4-ECC ram...
