*UPDATE* The intermittent dropping was due to using the metal Trendnet Cat6A Keystone Jacks. I replaced those with the plastic keystone jacks from Monoprice and it fixed the issue. Hope this helps someone in the future.
I have one of these 40Gbe NICs ( HP 544QSFP MCX354A-FCBT 649281-B21 656089-001 VPI FDR 40GbE Mellanox OEMFirmware | eBay ) installed on my Windows 10 computer that is using an Asrock Fatality x399 Gaming motherboard. I'm using the same NIC on other computers on this same network without issue...
Update... i replaced the Netgear switch with an Arista DCS-7050T-64 and have the same issue. Is there software that can monitor all ports and log issues? or will i literally have to connect 1 port at a time and wait to find the line that's the culprit? (will take a long time with 40+ ports :( )
I went to admn cmd prompt and ran mlxconfig -d mt4099_pciconf0 set VPI_SETTINGS_PORT1=2 and then i did it again for port2=2... then i restarted machine, but, when i run ibv_devinfo from cmd prompt it looks like the firmware version is 2.42.5000 but both port 1 and port 2 are listed as Down...
When i run ibv_devinfo it looks like firmware version is 2.42.5000 but both port 1 and port 2 are listed as Down... does that firmware version work with windows 10?
@hmw I downloaded MLNX_VPI_WinOF-5_50_53000_All_Win2019_x64 ... i guess that's WinOF?
I didnt know about Mellanox firmware tools.. i'm downloading that now... Is it pretty straight forward?
Thanks!

I just purchased an Arista DCS-7050T-64 switch, but the firmware is: Software image version: 4.12.7.1. I think the Arista website says latest is 4.19? Do i need to update this? If so, how do i get the latest?
Thanks!
Does anyone have an Arista DCS-7050T-64 switch for sale? I'm looking to buy at least 1 and maybe 2 of them.
Or do you know where I can get these at a reasonable price?
Thanks!
I have an old NORCO RPC-4224 4U Rackmount Server Case (24 bays). Is it worth using it to build the latest/greatest? or is it better to just buy something newer? Nothing in it is worth keeping. It has old 100mb cards, etc but the case was really nice back in the day.
@mmo i guess a DCS-7050T-52 or a DCS-7050T-64 will both work? They both seem to be RJ45 but the difference is one has SFP+ and other has QSFP+? i can connect either to a Mellanox SX6018 so should be fine with either?
