    WTS/WTT/WTB: components, combos, servers etc.

I have a few of those backplanes and they have never given me any problems. Do you have all of the little, impossible to find screws that hold the drives to the sleds? If so, I'll take it.

WTB: HP NC360T dual NIC bracket

I need a full height bracket for a NC360T and HP doesn't seem to sell them separately. Anyone have an extra or know where I can find one? Thanks.

    Bunker Server Room

I've had really good luck with the Trendnet consumer level cams (IP572 series especially). If money is no barrier, then Axis cams are generally considered the best.

Toshiba announces 12 new 3.5"desktop drives

I see a lot of DOA reports on the newegg reviews page for the Canvio 3tb. Has anyone here that is using the bare drive had any problems. I'm hoping it is an enclosure problem.

Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 External HDD $149.99 FREESHIP

There's a thread over on [H] saying that the newer versions of the Seagate externals don't have warranties on the bare drives. Apparently, there's a way to distinguish versions based on packaging. Also, some are finding 7200 rpm drives and others are finding 5900s. Here's the thread: Costco: USB...

    HP MicroServer HBA controller recommendation

I just picked up a N40L and I am about to drop in a spare M1015 that I have lying around, so this thread is very interesting. If things work out, this system may be able to replace my 2008 R2 server. sofianito, my one concern is whether or not the stock 150w PSU can handle everything you are...

    Racking a Norco 4220

I've also had problems with RL-26 rails and Norco 4U cases (a RPC-470 in my case). I could not make it fit, no matter what I tried. Eventually, I swapped rails with a Chenbro enclosure and everything worked just fine. So the Norco rails work fine with the Chenbro enclosure, but not with the...

    Where can i buy a BR10i bracket?

$19 is highway robbery. That makes me want to order a batch from Purcell and resell them for a reasonable price.

    Resources for Quiet Rackmounts

Same here. What I don't understand is the people that build 20 TB media servers, but then fail to build a backup server. As you said, reripping any decent sized collection is a tremendous waste of time when 2 TB drives can be bought for $60-$70. But, I know that people generally fall into one...

    X8sil-f ram

OK, let me try out the decoder ring: Kingston Value Ram, 1066 MHz, DDR3, Quad Rank 8 bits per chip, Registered, CL7 latency, has a thermal sensor, single 4 GB chip (not part of a set). Just curious, but why go with quad rank ram? Do you plan to eventually get it to 32 GB?

    Drives for HW RAID?

That's one of the reasons I am buying 5K3000s instead of the Samsung HD204UIs. Almost all of my other production hard drives are Samsungs. Right now, Hitachi and Samsung are all that I would buy.

How to build small and high-speed networks / transfers : Infiniband, 10GbE, etc...

I'm sure that Patrick's write-up will be excellent as usual, but you should check out smallnetbuilder.com, too. It is an excellent resource for home and small business networking info.
