Fair question, I have used dimm slot A1 for both 16gb and 32gb. So when using the 16GB stick I used dimm slot A1. This configuration POSTs without errors. I would then remove the 16GB stick and insert the 32GB stick into dimm slot A1 and it would error stating "No memory DIMM detected...".
