I got the response back from Cumulus I thought I would so I backed up the license and am now wiping the switch to try out Sonic. Their compatibility list doesn't include the D4040 but their images are not switch model based only chipset based and the Trident 2 is compatible so we'll see.

Thanks for the suggestion but I guess the solution was keep trying until it worked. I got the 3.4 then the 3.8 worked after the DOA SX6018 I received it's nice having a working switch now I can play with inifiband and 40gbit ethernet through my Celestica.

I just received a Celestica D4040 today and when I booted it up lo and behold Cumulus 3.3.2 installed. Does anyone know how I can check to see if this a trial license or just the license status?

If I could get it as well that would be fantastic, maybe I can resurrect my 6018.

Thanks for the reply, I am running IB and the cards are set to IB. The switch has a local subnet manager that is running, I mean all I did was turn it on no actual config so I'm not sure if there's something I need to do to finalize the config.
