Amazing, thanks all for your replies.
Dont understand how solar etc work, but woke up thinking about this this morning.
WIll look into a few companies like @PigLover suggested, but will need to find someone in the UK :)
As the title suggest :)
Is it possible to run a server off portable solar panels? Max draw around 200W
Interesting to hear what others recommend or do
Unfortunately in a rental house, so can install panels on the roof
could you please let me know the command to apply the .lod file to a drive? managed to pick one up for £120 (waiting for delivery), but want to test and make sure i can upgrade FW as currently running NA51
Thanks, I've seen NetApp ones (and have access to NetApp FW, but wouldnt know how to update ;)), but they are sold out atm. Will keep eye out and see if they can be had for under £150 each
I have SAS infrastructure already (Supermicro 24-bay SAS3)
Is it still worth getting these drives if they pop up online?
NetApp X357A 3.8TB
Samsung PM1633a
MZ-ILS3T8B
£199 each - 3.84TB SAS 12Gbps 2.5in Enterprise SSD pm1633a MZILS3T8NMLH-000M3 (Ref D) | eBay
I managed to install MB10-DS4 F11 firmware and all works as expected. Installed on 2 boards. No more Datto boot screen :)
Only thing is it now shows 4x NICs (obviously only the 2x 10GBe are there) ;)
