C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

I also thought I could use some fans with the original heat sinks, but the heat coming off those CPUs require really powerful fans, which would turn the whole thing into 747. I used Supermicro heat sinks with whisper quiet fans (included) from newegg.com. Those are really big but mounted to the...

C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

This is not so easy in this case. You have to deal with both hardware and software. My setup stays always on (shortened green-black contacts), so I don't really need the sleep mode.

C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

Yes and no. I tried hooking my old quad core Core 2 Duo MB with the C6100 node. It did not boot. Maybe there is a way to do it by fixing the PSU. I did this project coz I was able to get a real cheap c6100 node. Otherwise I would go with 2 or 4 node c6100, cutting opening for the PCI ribbon...

C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

OS X 10.8 installed and booted into safe mode without any problems (using the onboard video). Some kexts need changing for user mode. Waiting for my riser-ribbon for the PCI-X to check my video card (It's working OK on my current hackintosh). Will use QVS USB to 2.1 Stereo Audio Adapter...

C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

There is no purple 12V here: HKEPC Hardware - No.1 PC - Powered by Discuz! I guess it's not needed if you want to run the system 24/7.

Booted with the new setup no problem. The node runs really hot without the cooling.

C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

Yes mine is one 12 pin connector, the same as the micro 12 pin on the node board but bigger. I guess this has something to do with the interposer boards. Coz mine has one big 12 pin connector instead of your 16. The interposer board has 3 types of tracks: 12V, 12V purple, ground. Maybe there...

C6100 xs23-ty3 Node workstation (pinouts etc)

I did try to connect the node to my PSU through 2 8pin connectors with 12V (custom cord) - unsuccessfully. I made a custom cord with the pin-outs described here (Yellow: 12V Black: GND Purple: 12V was regular Yellow: 12V) and used the power source from my workstation. I tested the cord...

    Dell C6100 XS23-TY3 2U 4-Node (8 CPU) Cloud Server

Great work guys! Do you mind posting instruction how to connect regular PSU to this motherboard? I did a lot of search and even called Dell to get the specs for the MB (I only got one node and no server). The only thing I was able to get is the manufacturer (Inventec) and the MB model...
