Ok, I have now done a complete rebuild. And now when I press the power button, the system remains powered on with fans spinning. So that's something at least. Do you know the easiest way of getting the IPMI IP? Thanks in advance for your patience!

Sorry, my reading comprehension was not so good. I tried the 4-pin connector in the 8-pin slot. What happens as soon as I plug in the computer is that the CPU fan starts spinning for a few seconds and then stops. Also the power indicator on the back lights up, but just for a few seconds...
