3U Supermicro CSE-836TQ Chassis (No caddies and shroud) $145 OBO

Well if I do, I will post my fix. Just finished testing swapping out the fans to lower the noise level, without impacting airflow too much. It seems that the stock rear fans are 6700 rpm 59CFM fans that top out at 47 dbA according to Supermicro website. The ones I brought to replacement 2800...

3U Supermicro CSE-836TQ Chassis (No caddies and shroud) $145 OBO

I picked one of these up from Minostech. Very nice people and quick shipping. The chassis had some damage in shipment. Most of it I can fix, but Minostech is shipping a replacement ear for the one that got bent. I have to do some creative fixing for the other side, where the cap lock got...

    Mounting RSC-R2UU-A4E8+ in CSE-836TQ

In talking with Supermicro support, the above riser is not intended for the CSE-836TQ case. In fact my motherboard is not intended for the case (H8DGU-F), despite fitting. So I picked up a H8DG6 and it will work without the riser card.

    Mounting RSC-R2UU-A4E8+ in CSE-836TQ

trying to mount a RSC-R2UU-A4E8+ riser card in my new CSE-836TQ chassis to provide additional PCI slots for my HBA's, Mellanox FO card and NVME to PCI adapter. But the card doesn't come with a bracket, nor do I see a way to secure it firmly in the slot. Anybody have a thought on how to do it...

Supermicro H8DGU-F in CSE-836TQ case expansion card questions

So. I am currently in the process of migrating my H8DGU-F from its 1u (4 drive) case to a CSE-836TQ 3u (16 drive) case. Now in the 1u, the single pcie/uio slot I could pop in a riser card to break out 2/3 pcie 8x slots. These were horizontal mounting. But in the new case all it allows is for...

I just picked up 2 Aruba S2500-48T-4x10G 48port 10/100/1000 switches for $125 each off of ebay. The 10G fiber SFP+ transceivers are around $6 each on ebay as well. A youtuber Vicious Computers has some great videos on setup and modding this switch -- Vicious Computers A picture of them in my...

Dedicated Open Compute miner build- Part 2.The RandomX Edition.

Absolutely the Ryzen 3000 series (3600 and upwards) are going to be your best bang for the buck. somewhere around 40h/w or higher if the benchmarks are valid. As I mention I am primarily running my servers for the heat generation in the basement as the weather get cold. I will more than...

Dedicated Open Compute miner build- Part 2.The RandomX Edition.

did some tweaking on my Dell R815. disable HT assist to free up 2MB of ram per core. And installed TurionPowerControl (that was a bitch). reran the randomX benchmark and now I am up to 11253 h/s on the box. but the power draw jumps to 815w 11253 h/s / 815w = 13.807 h/w At that h/w...

Just rereading some reddit threads about real world RandomX testing. And as u/sech1 points out, the randomx/loki results are at least 7% lower than the monero randomx due to the number of programs/commands different between them. sech1 5 points · 14 days ago Loki runs 7 programs, 320...

Looking forward to actually heating my basement this fall/winter with my server farming. Not sure what it is, but RandomX seems to favor the AMD cpus (both consumer and server). I just ran the randomx benchmark tool on my r815 again. Calculated result...
