As I later found, I have logo disabled, but the first thing I can see is message "PEI--IPMI Initialization". But again, before that message my screen is blank for a few seconds.
No I did not, because without access to bios I had no idea how it is congirured (IP?).
Thanks to all who replied. I cleared cmos and tested one more keyboard, but it did not help. Finally I "solved" this problem by pressing <Delete> key right when screen went blank after "DXE--OOB Data Initialization" (before any other message appeared).
It seems to me my old LCD takes quite...
I just updated bios on my X10SDV mobo using dos-formated USB-stick, everything went well (usb-attached keyboard worked, so I could start the process with "flash.bat x10sdvf8.213"). At the end it says to reboot, so I rebooted, and now I want to get into bios, but simply can't. I tried <Delete>...
Unfortunatelly, this is not true for Proxmox. In standard configuration it writes to disk all the time. Not much, but there are small writes every 2-3 seconds, even when no VM is running. Those are killing consumer-SSDs very quickly...
BTW it is "Proxmox Cluster Filesystem" doing this. It...
Exposing IPMI directly to internet is definitely bad idea (although most boards allow to set up at least IP-filtering). Using vpn/firewall is highly recommended! I described my solution here, since then modified it a little (now I'm using power-splitter and mikrotik has its own psu)...
I have Mikrotik protecting ipmi-port (firewall, vpn, etc). The only complication was collocation center wanted to charge me double for housing two "servers" (wft?) so I got pissed and mounted that Mikrotik into my server and wired ipmi-ethernet port over it. It was not difficult, as those...
I do not know 505-203B, but I have 504-203B (which should be the same except for eth/usb ports on the back side) and I remember I could plug in the front-panel header into mobo in two ways. If done wrong way, nothing on the front panel works...
One more "feature" on the same install-page: you can not select timezone you want. Only those hard-coded to the country are possible. So for example, for the country "Britain UK" you can have only "Europe/London" timezone. No GMT, no UTC...
Edit:
One more great "feature": I selected swap size 0...
Unfortunatelly, I did not find similar product for at least 4x2.5"@5.25", tray-less, with on/off switch and at least symbolic small key to lock drives in place...
Two things come to my mind:
1. I'd prefer version for 6xSSD, up to 7mm height (they have something similar, but with trays)
2. I'd like to see some keylock to prevent getting drives out (again, they have it for other docks)
It is triggered by specific code sequence rather than some specific application, as Intel writes in documentation:
"...short loops of less than 64 instructions that use AH, BH, CH or DH registers as well as their corresponding wider register (e.g. RAX, EAX or AX for AH) may cause unpredictable...
It seems all Intel Skylake/Kabylake CPUs (i3, i5, i7, xeon e3) have bug in hyperthreading affecting every OS. Solution is to disable HT in bios, or update to the latest microcode...
At the beginning 2x 500GB/SM863 in raid1 (later maybe 4x in raid10). Workload will be "mixed": Proxmox with a few VMs (KVM/LXC), a few websites with db, dns, mail, etc. Controller is on-board (X10SDV).
I'm building small server with local storage using ZFS as file-system. As it is SSD-only, I suppose I do not need extra SSD for L2ARC, but I still need separate media for ZIL/SLOG. From what I have read, Intel-SSDs are ahead of competition, but I'm facing certain limitations.
Because my HW has...
IIRC, some tome ago some LSI-firmware changed something concerning battery. There had to be one extra-step after flashing firmware to controller (something like gas-gauge firmware update). Look for some info in firmware-packs. It was about a year ago...
Edit: check 23.32.0-0009 firmware! That...
