I have an r740xd (well vxrail p570f, same difference) I have some random micron 16gb rdimms (2666 and 3200 variants) I am running currently. I am trying to upgrade to 32gb rdimms. I buy a mixed lot of hynix/samsung 32gb pc4-3200aa rdimms on ebay. None of the new 32gb rdimms are recognized by my...
Anyone use any of Quad U.2 adapters in the past? If so what brand? Looking at something like this atm:
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803285836696.html
Anything I should watch out for on these? Will random Chinese stuff work correctly or should I try to use any specific brands? I got a...
I was looking at this site for other things and noticed they are selling pretty cheap DAC cables:
10G SFP+ to SFP+ Passive Direct Attach Copper Twinax Cable
25G SFP28 to SFP28 Passive Direct Attach Copper Twinax Cable
comparing to FS at 2m SFP+ 10G; FS = $14 and colorpowercables = 8.46

I have been getting various drives on EBay over the last couple months and found that nearly none of them came with up to date firmware. Does no one that runs these "enterprise" drives update them in the field? There are some pretty serious firmware bugs out in the wild and I don't understand...
Hello,
Hopefully someone can help me out. I am looking for the output of the following command on an Intel datacenter nvme (p3600, p4600,ect):
nvme id-ns /dev/nvmeXn1 -H | grep -A 4 "dlfeat"
Where the X would be the id of your drive. Really appreciate it, thank you!
I was wondering if anyone with these drives could run crystaldiskmark or benchmarks on these drives. Doesn't seem to be very many 3rd party reviews of these. Thanks!
I bought a few of these S3710 drives off ebay that happened to be HP branded. HDSentinel doesn't seem to know how to interpret the wear indicator on these drives and neither does the Intel SSD tool. Anyone have another way of checking the wear on these drives, perhaps an HP utility?
I am trying to find the right cable to use for my r720 with r730 backplane installed to run to a card in the rear PCIE slots (5,6,7).
greater than 31" long
left (?) angle SFF-8643 -> straight SFF-8643
Something like the Dell 9MHYN might work but the angle is in the wrong direction I think.
I installed a QL41164 RNDC card into my R720 and it complains about the option rom at boot. Anyone have any ideas how to disable it? Bios only lets me disable option rom for devices in the pcie slots not the RNDC port.
I am working on swapping an R720 8xLFF BP with an R730 8xLFF BP. Looks like all I will need to do is make a custom cable combining the 2x 8pin power connectors on the R720 into the 10pin R730 power cable.
Anyone ever done anything similar? Attached is my pinout documentation I worked out from...
Is it possible to update firmware in drives like the HUSMM1616ASS204 (IDs as HUSMM141CLAR1600)? I have a mix of C250 and C342 firmwares on my drives. I would like to upgrade them all to C342 or newer if possible. I was able to change them all 520B->512B blocks and 6gb->12gb rate already but...
I can't for the life of me get v2 chips to boot on this motherboard. v1 chips seem to boot fine. Is it possible that v1.01A boards don't support v2 chips?
I convinced Supermicro support to send me an unqualified beta bios they developed a few years ago for X9SRW-F. I was unable to get full 4x4x4x4x bifurcation working. With this firmware it seems to work correctly. Any ideas on how to root out any bugs? Link to bios:
