My Intel S2600CP2J C602J chipset motherboard would not work with an Orico VIA-based USB 3.0 card but worked fine with a Vantec Renasas-based USB 3.0 card. It only cost around $17 on ebay.

Thinking of playing with an AMD Threadripper setup so I need to sell my current 12 Core/24 Thread dual LGA 2011 Server/Workstation core components. You can use any standard LGA 2011 HS/Fan that might be used on a typical X79 or X99 motherboard. You will need a power supply with dual 8-pin...
Actually there's plenty of room to route cables at the top or side. You can mount three 2.5 inch SSDs on the back and there is a drive case adjacent to the power supply on the bottom. And the case is deep enough for those relatively tall Cooler Master Hyper 212s. Also plenty of airflow to...
You might try moving the fan on the left heatsink and installing on the other side in a pull configuration. That provides some extra space between the heatsinks to allow the hot exhaust from the right heatsink to mix with cool air before getting sucked into the left heatsink. On my rig shown...
I've run two systems with the Intel S2600CP and dual Hyper 212s with no flexing and no issues. And only 3 of the mounting holes can be screwed in the case I use. The remaining holes have plastic standoffs installed and a few of them are attached to the case motherboard tray with twist ties.
After selling the motherboard, CPUs and RAM on ebay back in late February, I played with multiple Ryzen 7 and 5 combos but either returned or sold them, and have now just pretty much rebuilt this setup. Went even cheaper this time with an Intel s2600CPJ, a pair of 6C/12T E5-2640s, and 32GB (8 x...
The top slot fits any standard sub 7" mini ITX size card. I ran an EVGA GTX 1060 SC in my S2600CP2J and it ran very nice. Several manufacturers make mini ITX GTX 1070 also - Gigabyte and Zotac are usually available.
There is also the MSI X79MA-GD45 mATX board and the ASRock X99E-ITX/ac mini ITX for small form factor builds . I just decided to build a mini ITX with an Asus H81i Plus motherboard running a Xeon E3-1230 V3 to keep the cost down.

I did not make any setting to that affect in the BIOS. I'll have to look in the BIOS the next time I boot it but I've never seen any error of any kind with the GTX 1060 installed in slot 6. When I tried the RX 480 in slot 3 there were lots of messages since the Intel Server Board splash screen...
There's no error of any kind. It gets 3 beeps and goes right to the Intel logo screen before booting into windows. When I tried a larger RX 480 in blue slot 3 it went to an old fashioned BIOS listing instead, but still no errors. Gigabyte and Zotac make nice mini 1070s, which I will pick up...
Maybe I'm just lucky, but I went for the "reworked" Intel SC2600CP dual E5-2670 combo from Natex back in November for $350 shipped and it has been 100% stable with the original circa 2011 BIOS it was delivered with and now with the latest BIOS. It's ran right out of the box, has never crashed...
Slot 5 runs off of CPU2, so that is an issue. I purchased an EVGA mini GTX 1060 which runs great in slot 6. Several manufacturers make mini GTX 1070s that will fit there also.
