Firewall options for 1 Gbps VPN throughput

I found this blog and feel ready to take the dive into VyOS. It's easier to conduct this test while my rack lives in my house before I have to move it into a data center. I'm also hoping to reduce complexity by having a one-box solution in hopes for stability, fewer things to maintain. But...

Firewall options for 1 Gbps VPN throughput

I've considered VyOS in the past but I'll admit that I'm a bit intimidated by the lack of a UI.

Firewall options for 1 Gbps VPN throughput

I'm in the market for a firewall to place in a small rack at a data center to access backup storage and a few NVME backed VMs. My current firewall is a DIY 2U firewall 2013 AMD AM1 Kabini with a 4 port NIC running Sophos XG but this setup struggles with my 1 Gbps connection prior to VPN. I'm...

WTB: Colo/Data Center Space near Manhattan/NYC for non-critical homelab

Hi all, I am being forced to move to Manhattan and need to stash my homelab which is in a rack enclosure on beefy wheels - Tripp Lite's SRW21UG (21U). I would like to keep the hardware in the rack but I'm open to installing it into a DC's rack. This is what I have in the enclosure today...

Any server rack experts here? Need help.

I've used these for my rack to support heavy appliances which don't have rear support: https://www.startech.com/en-us/server-management/cmlb102 It's kinda janky but it works well in my home lab. I've mounted them in reverse so the cable lacing bar is supporting the weight of the appliance.

Affordable 10GbE+ for point to point between two VMware hosts ($100)

Really odd problem. None of the VMs (on Giulietta) are able to connect to the internet with the two AOCs connected. I'm going to remove the disconnected NICs from the vmswitch and then reconfigure teaming them together. What type of VMkernel do I need for VSphere NFS traffic? Trying to clone a...

Affordable 10GbE+ for point to point between two VMware hosts ($100)

Yes, you have all the assumptions correctly. The text in green is exactly what I'm missing. I hope this helps. I quickly put together a diagram of my home lab. I was attempting to use a spare 1gbe nic on the general compute host to connect back to the physical switch so the DNS/DHCP server...

Affordable 10GbE+ for point to point between two VMware hosts ($100)

Thanks @itronin - Another question. If I go down that route can I use the same vSwitches for a vmnetwork so my VMs can use the 40 Gbe line for communication between without hitting my slower 1gbe physical switch? Basically the topology is where I have one vmhost as my storage server and the 2nd...

Affordable 10GbE+ for point to point between two VMware hosts ($100)

Hey, I got the NICs and they're great plug and play no issues. Vmware question. I want to use this for both TCP/IP and Vmotion. I created a new vSwitch on both hosts and added the port 1 from each NIC. What provides DHCP?
