One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

I stumbled on this reddit post while googling the slower NAS model (DS1817): Sorry I should have credited this post! But disabling just the Microsoft network client (always) policy disabled network access altogether, so I also had to disable the Microsoft network server (always) as well. In...

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Hi all, happy new year. So I got to the bottom of it. The cause was having Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) being enabled in the Windows Local Group Policy Editor. I also disabled Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always). Windows was...

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Thanks Matta I'll try a USB 5GbE adapter and see how it goes. Last day in the office before holidays so will be in the new year. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Other computers get 930 MB/s read/write to Synology DS1821+, and 530 MB/s read/write to Synology DS1817+. All via the switch. Haven't other tests from the problem computer to other computers (peer-to-peer or via the switch). The computer is in use by a co-worker so will test tomorrow. Thanks for...

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Hi Exhaust, I tried swapping slots with the GPU and have found the same slower transfer speeds. I guess it's not a PCI-E issue. Please let me know if there's anything you'd suggest trying. Tempted to get a new motherboard at this point. Thanks

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Thanks Exhaust, I'll test this. The motherboard manual says this will drop the GPU to X4 in the PCI_E3 slot but would be good to test.

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Ahh I didn't realise X1 slots were open ended. I didn't want to force the card in. Will try. Thanks

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Thanks Tech Junkie Yeah I'm starting to think it's the chipset too. Very frustrating. I have been through the bios toggling each setting but I'll take another look. It's showing that it's connected at 10G in Windows but there does seem to be some barrier hampering performance. If you have time...

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Thanks Tech Junky This board doesn't have any other available slots (only 1x, which the card is too big for anyway). The BIOS is reading the card as PCI-E Gen 3.0 2X (screenshot attached). I

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

The other PCs are intel based, rather than AMD. But I don't think that's the issue as we've had an older AMD computer a few years ago. The other difference is that the other 5 five computers are PCI-E 3.0, and the problem computer has PCI-E 4.0. I thought this was the issue and ordered what I...

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Hi Kapone, No answer too basic for me :) I've turned off WiFi and also tried disabling it the device manager.

One computer on 10GbE network has significantly slower transfer speeds to/from Synology NAS. Advice on solutions to try?

Hi, I work in a post-production house with a 10GbE network and two Synology NAS’s for video editing. Five of our PCs have excellent transfer speeds (DS1821+ does 930 MB/s read/write, DS1817+ does 530 MB/s read/write). However, one computer has significantly less speed (DS1821+ has 377 MB/s...
