if it is the case with the proprietary cables, which one would it be for 2x slimsas x4 on the backplane side of things?
I had this board a couple of years ago with another chassis and another backplane (8x SAS/SATA and 4x NVMe) and it worked with sata drives.
thx, but my cable is slimsas x8 to 2x slimsas x4 and there is no pin. I had this board (not this one) in the past, and i never had to select anything...since its a hybrid port that should "auto sense" what is connected. The broadcom hab has no issues...what am i missing here?
Hello Guys!
I am using a H12SSW-NT Board with a BPN-SAS3-LA26A-N12 backplane. My 4 NVMe drives work fine on slimsas x8 ports, but my SATA Disks don't get detected. They are connected to SATA0-7 Slimsas x8 Port on the Board to 2x Slimsas x4 on the backplane. I already tried two different cables...
Thanks for pointing this out. I did the crosscheck today and interestingly any other cable then the original supermicro cable is also not working on the HBA...thats weird. I am running out of ideas what cable to buy. And where the heck is the difference in those cables?
Hi Guys,
I got this Board a few days ago and can't get the slimsas 8i ports to work. I have a supermicro chassis with nvme backplane (sff-8643 mini sas hd connectors) and the drives are not recognized. I order some chinese slimsas 8i to 2x mini sas hd, as they were the only cables I could find...
In case anyone is interested:
For SAS Disks you can use the following (under Linux):
sginfo -XRt 0x19 /dev/sda 0 2000 2000
0 = LED ON
1 = LED OFF
Worked like a charm and the change is persistent as well.
Hi!
I am currently using a Supermicro 836BA-R920B Chassis which contains a 16 Port direct attach SATA/SAS Backplane.
As HBA I am using a Microsemi HBA 1100-16i. All my drives (16x SAS) show no activity ( I mean the LEDs from the drive trays).
I read about SGPIO Cables but I am still unsure...
I am in a similar situation. I "accidentally" flashed the Rome Bios and actually have a naples CPU installed. Now Board won't post (QCODE 00). I cannot revert to earlier BIOS because of the above mentioned Baseboard ID mismatch. Any ideas? Thanks!
@KarelG: Yes, you are right. The issue I am facing with posting the dmesg output from TrueNAS nightly is that my NICs don't work in that version so I cannot copy and paste the output. A bit of a dilemma.
