Yes, I'm using 2x M.2 (from the motherboard) and 4x U.2 (with the 3D-adapter). The M.2 gets a bit hotter, because there's barely no airflow. I'm using the M.2 for boot (in RAID-1), both are cheap chinesium 256GB SSD. I never tested, but I think it will NOT work.
