Hi napalm_atx,
Given your quote I take it that the new PCGNW8C8 does then also work on my WUH721818ALE6L4 where currently PCGNW8C2 is running?
And does my HUS726060ALE610 that currently runs APGNT907 accept the update to APGNTD05 or is this a different hardware revision?
Sorry for being a nuisance. My updated WUH721818ALE6L4 works fine with PCGNW870, however on hddguru files I find a PCGNW8C2 from July 2025 (not uploaded by you). Do you @napalm_atx by any chance know whether I could update the drive also to this version or is it only for newer drive revisions...
@napalm_atx: As you are so knowledgeable:
For my HUH721212ALE600 that came with FW LEGNT9U0, is the newest FW i could use the LEGNTB01 or could I use also the LEBDTB11 (or any LEBDT* FW)? Should I stick to LEGNT* firmwares?
Thank you very much! Does your answer mean that it these versions are not just the latest but that they are also compatible to my drives that are on such old versions? Sorry, but I want to double-check before doing the updates
Thank you for that info!
In another machine I have more drives. I would be very happy, if you could also give your opinion on those if you think an update is safe:
HGST HUH721010ALE604 currently on LHGNW384 and I found LHGNWB01 as newest. Is it compatible? I downloaded other versions, too...
Hi there,
thank you @napalm_atx! This discussion made me confident in updating my WUH721818ALE6L4 with wdckit (under Linux) from PCGNW232 to PCGNW870. It seemed to work like a charm.
I have four 4 TB HGST HUS724040ALE640 that run in a software RAID. I would like to update them to the latest...
