Since it's reporting 34 at the PSU it's kicking into Speed 2. What you can do is attached one or two fans externally to the vent on the side to bring down the PSU port temp. That should fix you up. Either that or get it better ventilation.

I just used thickly threaded screws that 'bite' into the heat sink fins a bit. Works well.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic - have any of you found an easy way to integrate an ICX switch into a HomeAssistant instance? I'm running a 7250, and I'd like to pull the device info to HA (temperature, fans, etc). Having control would be great, but even just passive data would be nice...

my fans were Nidec, but they were also black, yellow, green. I posted the pinouts. (note: the fans in that post aren't what I settled on). https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/brocade-icx-series-cheap-powerful-10gbe-40gbe-switching.21107/page-156#post-254785

The 48p variant comes with 3 fans from the factory - and should. It needs them. You can make modifications to the fans, add one to the ASIC, etc, but it should have 3. It'll run too hot without.

As far as the console cable, I lucked out with an ebay one that apparently no longer exists - but a lot of people seemed successful with this reddit thread: For fans, this was my solution and it's going on 5 years so I'm gonna call it successful. Requires no case cutting, but you do add a fan...

That's a killer deal on a 7250-48P. I guess they're dropping in price because they're EOL? I'm half tempted to pick up another one just because at prices like that.

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Hi jmdomini! I want to make it clear that it isn't TRULY silent - there is still a 'machine running in the same room as you' fan noise. Mine sits in a rack about 3 feet from me, and I don't notice it unless it's off (which is basically never). But it's also that low constant woosh sound, not a...

https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/brocade-icx-series-cheap-powerful-10gbe-40gbe-switching.21107/page-159#post-256375 Here's my post on a 7250-48p. I did this in 2020 and it's been running solid ever since so I think it worked out pretty well. Not sure if all the fans are still...

I think one of the issues is that those rear fans you put in there are only 10 CFM. That stock ones were around 25, so it's now getting less than half the original air movement. When I did my mod and used the Mechantronix MR4020X12B1-RSR I think they do well because they're rated at 17.3 CFM...

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

I think this was me. If i were you, I'd just plug one of the fans you're replacing into the 3rd header and fire it up and see if it runs all 3. I suspect that the third one is probably enabled on all models, regardless of firmware settings. But if it doesn't work, you could splice into the...

I'm very pleased w/ my 7250 mod, but I agree with you - there comes a point when someone should likely consider a different switch entirely. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/brocade-icx-series-cheap-powerful-10gbe-40gbe-switching.21107/page-159#post-256375

You can splice into one of the existing fans. I'd recommend using new connectors instead of trying to splice the wires themselves.
