NetApp DS224C with SATA and SAS? Loud?

I appreciate the ideas. Yeah, maybe there's a different kind of interposer I'd need. At this point it seems unlikely I'm going to get SATA disks to work in this shelf. Oh well. Guess I'll need to buy more SAS then :p

NetApp DS224C with SATA and SAS? Loud?

Thanks, keep the suggestions coming! Unfortunately, I’ve tried using the IOM12 in different slots. Still nothing. I've tried a few more things and haven’t gotten any SATA disks to show up yet. Filling in more details here on what I’ve got and what I’ve tried... Current situation My DS224C...

NetApp DS224C with SATA and SAS? Loud?

Ah, cool, make sense! Mine arrived and the noise is tolerable. However, I'm unable to get it to recognize any SATA SSDs. SAS SSDs show up and work just fine. I'm pretty sure my cabling and HBA are all in order. I've got active interposer boards. I also tried the cover-pin-3 (3.3v) thing...

PCIe x4 2x10 GbE NIC Recommendations? Do these exist? (Looking for X550-T2, but SFP+)

This looks like the same one but available. Though it ships from France which may or may not work for you, https://www.ebay.com/itm/307036335826 Seems strange that I can't find these anywhere else. Makes me a bit suspicious that it'll work.

NetApp DS224C with SATA and SAS? Loud?

Thanks. I had read that the DS2246 works with SATA, but am hoping to get something that supports SAS-3 since I have a couple 12Gbps SSDs and would like to use the extra bandwidth. Good to know about the 3008! Got it. So xyratex is out for me then. My 740/xd high performance fans were too loud...

NetApp DS224C with SATA and SAS? Loud?

I'm looking for a 24 bay SFF JBOD to pair with a Dell R740xd (using zfs, no hardware raid). I've got a couple 12Gbps SAS SSDs and several 6Gbps SATA SSDs. No spinning platters. I have three questions. 1. SATA support - From what I've read, SATA SSDs will work in the DS224C as long as I have...

weird SSD compatiable issue, SN530 and Intel M10

IIRC, that machine can't boot from an NVME in a PCIE card. However, it should be able to boot from a Dell BOSS-S1 card (M.2 SATA, not NVME).

Good point! Looks like over 40k. SMART results attached.

    Enterprise SSD "small deals"

I reached out to them via ebay. They said that the drive is indeed 7.68TB. That the sticker that says 960GB is incorrect and was applied by a vendor prior to them (SPD) receiving the unit. Sounds like they knew about the sticker mixup. SMART stats seem to match that of a 7.68TB, === START...

Optane placement doubt in DL380 Gen 10

To confirm, you have a dual CPU system with 24 slots that you want to populate with 18 32GB DIMMs and 6 128GB DCPMMs. Is that correct? If you use the DCPMMs in Memory Mode (as opposed to App Direct), then your system will "have" a total of 768GB. In other words, the six DCPMMs will act as...

Sandisk CloudSpeed ECO Gen II weird failure mode

If I were you I'd give it a try in a regular SATA port (not a USB SATA adapter). I've had drives act weird in some USB SATA adapters and then fine when I plug them into a regular SATA port.

    FT: have 2 x Xeon 8180 (+/- $); want 2x 8280 or 8270

Good to know! Looks like the 8270 would be closer to the 8180 in price. I'm seeing some on offer for about $175 each.

    FT: have 2 x Xeon 8180 (+/- $); want 2x 8280 or 8270

This is a bit of a long shot... I've got two Xeon 8180s and I'd like to swap them for two 8280s or two 8270s. Plus or minus some money (Venmo). Not sure what 8180s go for these days. Happy to ship to CONUS via Fedex. If you've got 8280s or 8270s and wanna swap, LMK, thanks!
