    Cheap 8 * 2.5Gbit Managed Switches

I have heard back - Their diagnosis is that the NOR flash on the board has gone bad, and needs to be replaced (as it's no longer in a state it can be read and/or reprogrammed). They have sent out a replacement flashed chip, but as it's an SOIC-8 part (5.3mm big at it's longest area) it's going...

    Cheap 8 * 2.5Gbit Managed Switches

Just as a data point, My Mokerlink POE-2G08110GT (8-port 2.5G, 10G uplink, PoE, Managed) has decided it doesn't want to network anymore - It still provides PoE power to connected devices, but the power LED is flashing and there's no networking at all. Testing the (external) PSU it's providing...

    SFP module supply chain issues?

I am hearing rumors that Verizon are delaying all business class internet orders because they're running out of SFP modules and their suppliers are all "on backorder". Apparently Fortigate's inventory is rapidly shrinking too. Can anyone else confirm this? Is this something to be aware of?

Recommendations for Low-Power, Rack-Mountable Firewalls with 10Gb/2.5Gb Support

I know that pfSense is working on a wrapper using a barebones Linux in bhyve with PCI forwarding to enable newer Wifi support (and possibly other devices not supported by FreeBSD), though that's not out yet.

List of NICs and their equivalent OEM parts

I just grabbed a bunch of what were called "X540-T2" dual 10G cards. The PCB is branded "Inspur". pciconf on FreeBSD reports them as: ix0@pci0:21:0:0: class=0x020000 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor=0x8086 device=0x1528 subvendor=0x8086 subdevice=0x0000 vendor = 'Intel Corporation'...

SunSoont SST-MTG8T4XS 12 Port 10G Web Managed Switch

Oh hey, that web interface looks close to identical to the Mokerlink 10GT080M I have (and am having issues with getting VLANs working, screenshots in that thread)

    Mokerlink 10GT080M VLAN Madness

I've got one of these Managed 8-port 10G-baseT switches, and it was/is working fine for regular traffic, but now I'm wanting to add a VLAN to segregate some IoT traffic, and this is where my problems start. It uses a different Web interface to the 2.5G switches they have (which I also have)...

IBM x3650 M3 internal HBA for FreeNAS - ASR-71605 and rewiring?

Well, there is an official Adaptec driver for these cards (aacraid(4)) but there isn't much info about it. I'm thinking the M1015/M1115 (Whichever is cheaper) is the way to go. I don't think an LSI 9201-16i is going to fit where the expander card is, and it's 5 times more expensive. An extra x16...

IBM x3650 M3 internal HBA for FreeNAS - ASR-71605 and rewiring?

I have an IBM x3650 M3, with the 16-bay front, and it's currently running an M5015 RAID card (Which doesn't work with FreeNAS without some non-standard flags set, and even then it's... interesting). The way it's connected internally is the 2 SFF8087 connectors on the x8 RAID card in one of the...
