Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

Has anyone run into an issue with M920Q vpro where vpro just stops responding to requests? I wonder if it's related to AMT stops responding via network - DHCP IP Address missing but I'm on the latest Intel ME firmware. At least for what Lenovo provides...

    I made an open source, 3D-printable 1U Disk Shelf (19in 4-bay , 10in 2-bay)

Thanks! That total is probably about right. I bet you could get 4 fans for $40 shipped if you waited for a good price or went used. I couldn't find a DAS from a reputable manufacturer (i.e. not aliexpress) for under $220, and in my case, each drive is connected to a different node, so typical...

You can fit a lot of NVMe. I think all these mods work on an M720q as well: For 3.5", you can either do M.2 to SATA, or use a USB 3/C enclosure. Or use a NAS. I ended up making my own...

    I made an open source, 3D-printable 1U Disk Shelf (19in 4-bay , 10in 2-bay)

A couple of people on reddit were interested in buying the PCBs. I can do a run for about $27 per board for total quantity of 10, so feel free to express your interest here.

    I made an open source, 3D-printable 1U Disk Shelf (19in 4-bay , 10in 2-bay)

This took a lot longer than I'd originally planned, but it's finally done! I decided to make this because I'm setting up a 4x TinyMiniMicro lab (Lenovo M920q's, specifically), and I couldn't find an easy way to get 3.5" storage for each node. There are some 4 bay JBODs, but they're expensive...

Are you sure you have the right riser? You'll get activity lights even if the PCIe link isn't up because the NIC link is.

Hi all - curious what kind of idle power people are seeing with M920qs. I get about 6.4W headless with nothing but CPU/RAM (+netboot). I can't seem to get the PKG Cstate to go below C2, even with this limited hardware setup. I'm using Debian and powertop --auto-tune. Anyone have any...

With an M920x (or modded M920q) and a custom riser, you can get 4x m.2 slots and a pcie slot for dual NIC. Idle can be ~6-10W. If you search through my past comments on this thread you'll find links and examples etc.

Does anyone know how to fix/remove these weird options from the BIOS boot order? What I really want to do is add USB HDD to the Automatic and Error boot orders, but they don't show up in the list for some reason. I tried using efibootmgr, but no luck.

In case anyone sees this, turns out the issue was the Dell branded ones. Never was able to fix it. The ones I thought were Intel branded were actually Lenovo cards (PN: 00YK615) so I bought more and returned the Dells. They all worked out of the box. I ended up cross flashing the latest Intel...

Has anyone else run into reboot/shutdown issues with X710-DA2? I have 4 of them, 3 are Dell branded, 1 is Intel. With all 3 Dell branded ones, if I put them into any of my M920qs, they won't fully reboot or shutdown. If I try, it puts the machine into some weird frozen state where everything...

Amazon. There are tons there as well as on aliexpress. Mine was actually one that supported many M.2 lengths, and the PCB was perforated so you could snap it off to the exact desired length.
