    SN2100 Bricked?

I can comment that the "DEBUG" LEDs on mine (fully booted and working) aren't that pattern. These are supposedly susceptible to the atom bug, but I haven't seen anyone conclusively show one that's failed, and nobody knows how you'd do the hardware patch, if it's possible. Just curious, can you...

Dell AMD Pensando DSC2-25 Dual Port 25gbit card

I'm like 70% confident that still requires running software on the host, it's not that the bluefield 2 device can completely, on its own, appear to be an NVMe device, which I think? bluefield 3 devices can do. See here which says "BlueField-3 DPU is required"

Dell AMD Pensando DSC2-25 Dual Port 25gbit card

that's why I haven't bought one yet! so far as I can tell, the one thing that really interests me (PCIe/NVMe device emulation) are only possible on the bluefield 3 chips, which are still too expensive the example apps in the SDK that could run on a BF2 are things like various types of firewall...

Dell AMD Pensando DSC2-25 Dual Port 25gbit card

if you want a DPU you can actually program, I think the mbf2h332 (nvidia/mellanox bluefield 2) is the cheapest, going for like $125 on ebay

EXPIRED Neat GPS clock SFP module - $20

I followed the instructions in the manual to reset the password on mine and it worked fine. Maybe try telnet instead of SSH. Kinda huge security hole but, uh, probably shouldn't put it on an untrusted network anyway.

Is anyone using PTP time syncing with a ConnectX-3 or -4?

Thanks for sharing your experiments here and on your blog, lots of great info! I upgraded one of my machines from a connectx-3 to a -4 (mcx354 to mcx416), and the PTP performance is massively worse. Here's a funky histogram of what chrony reports while running it for a few weeks (what's up with...

    Mellanox 50G 20USD

It's a slightly awkward middle point, faster and lower latency than 40Gb, but you need a 100Gb QSFP28 switch (and wouldn't you want to do 100Gb, then?). But 100Gb cards are like $90 now, and all 40Gb equipment is super cheap.

    Quiet/nearly silent QSFP+/QSFP28 switches?

For anyone interested, my SN2010 3d printed replacement top for 120mm fans: miscellany/sn2010-fans at master · cy384/miscellany Caveat emptor as always, be careful with the PSUs. Super quiet!

    Quiet/nearly silent QSFP+/QSFP28 switches?

I just bought an SN2010 to replace an SX6012. At full tilt the SN2010 fans are painful, and at idle they're merely unpleasant. It's not a gentle hum, it's kinda loud and a little grind-y. I would not want to work at a desk next to it. I considered the CRS504, but I'm also not a big Mikrotik...

Mellanox Switches - Tips & Tricks

Anything that needs packets to get passed to the CPU is going to be limited, the one in the SN2010 is roughly comparable to a Raspberry Pi 4. 3Gb/s for common home NAT and iptables firewall type stuff might be too much, but I haven't tested workloads like that. I'm planning to use it for basic...

Mellanox Switches - Tips & Tricks

I finally acquired an SN2010 and started messing around with the various OS options. Just for fun, I stuck OpenWRT on it. There are instructions on their wiki to install the firmware and kernel modules needed for the switch, generally pretty easy. There were a few extra tweaks, like I had to...

Is anyone using PTP time syncing with a ConnectX-3 or -4?

I'm using a Connectx-3 MCX354 with PTP (chrony and ptp4l, ubuntu 22.04) and it works fine. Jitter is reported around 50ns. I think my switch doesn't have hardware timestamping, so that's good enough for me.

Mellanox Switches - Tips & Tricks

My opinion: SX6036 plus a few connectx3: very cheap ($200 or less), you get infiniband or ethernet up to 56gb, still pretty fast, EOL software doesn't realy matter if you're just doing basic switching/routing, reasonable power usage SN2700 plus a few connectx4: somewhat pricey for hobby...

ATTO 3102- Thunderbolt Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx (Dual Port 25GbE) - $189 or less

Just got the TLN3-3102-D00, bumped it up to the 25Gbe firmware, and it works great! Came right up on my ubuntu laptop.

super interested in one of these, if anyone has one they're willing to let go (or knows where they can be still be found), I'm definitely willing to pay more than $20

    (US) 90 dollar Wyse 5070 Thin client/mini-server?

I grabbed a few 5070 extendeds and put a mellanox connectx-3 in each. The 5070s all work, except for one, where the m.2 SATA stops working ONLY when I have these conectx-3 cards in (tried three of them that work in the other boxes). I upgraded the BIOS and mellanox firmware, no improvement. I...

    Hp Integrity BL860c i2 firmware

These are all pretty close to what I've been messing with. I'm in the process of finding a nice 10gb or faster NIC that would be compatible with openvms and linux. But honestly, the linux deprecation of itanium has kinda killed my motivation for spending time on this. I already have an...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

I made it in freecad, the editable file is uploaded to that same folder. I'll also attach a .step file here. I'm not very good at CAD so it's pretty crude!

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

I made a simple 3D printable bracket for the M90q gen 2 and the Mellanox CX353A, you can grab the STL from my github page one part, no supports, no threaded inserts, not perfect but good enough for me
